11th January v Woodentops (H) Lost 375 - 380

A good performance and home score by the Tatti's couldn't prevent them from losing 375-380 at the hands of Woodentops who must absolutely love playing at the Snooker Centre.

The Bogoes knew they were up against it from the off as Woodentops arrived boasting a 100% record against them at this venue having won all of the four previous matches. After three legs apiece the Tatti's held the edge being 3 pins ahead however, Woodentops saved their best until last felling a superb 106 leg.

Needing 104 to win was a tough challenge which soon became almost impossible when the bottom halfers could only get the leg total up to 41. The top half needed a massive 63 and Captain Ali, who is in tremedous form at present, provided some hope by adding a brilliant 16 spare to his opening 15 flopper. They just needed one more spare, a 13 would do it together with a couple of 8's & 9's, but unfortunately, Ali's spare was their final act of good fortune. The others who followed him all punched out the front pin with their first ball and the match winning spare opportunity the Bogoes craved had eluded them.

On a more positive note news soon came through that their main challengers, Evans SC, had also lost (against The 'C'on Men) so it's 'as you were' in the title race.

I touched upon this earlier and I must say more, Captain Ali is playing some sublime skittles at present. During the last ten games his average is almost 35 pins and he's risen to the summit of the averages table. He's now taken over the mantle from Westy who's occupied the position for the previous 14 weeks, since his very first game infact, previous to that Cheeso was there for one week and Liam for two. Ali, is now looking down on a chasing pack of Westy -3 (pins behind), Cheeso -15, Benny -30, Berti -33, Rusty -34 and Booby -37. Time to get serious Al!
