25th January v Barton (H) Won 375 - 323

The Tatti's ran out comfortable victors by 52 pins against division one newcomers Barton who are in real danger of going straight back down.

It was the 16th occasion that the teams have met and all have ended up with the same outcome. Captain Ali starred in this one, achieving his best score of the season thanks to a couple of excellent spares, and he now joins Rusty & Benny on the highest individual score.

After the game Stuee complained to Ali that he was a lucky git and warned him that he'd be the one to stop him winning the averages this season!

After a four year absence the Tatti's returned to competing in the Front Pin with a 7 pins victory over current cup holders Beevers at the Snooker Centre, 291-284.

18th January v Woodpeckers (A) Won 330 - 315

The Tattibogoes maintained their 100% record against Woodentops with a 15 pins victory at the Bowling Club.

It was a game that Tups, Berti and Joner will quickly forget as all three failed to average six pins per go but they have Boundy, Booby, Rusty and high flying Captain Ali to thank for reaching the 30's and dragging out the much needed win.

16th January v Walt's Ramblers (KO Cup QF) Lost 1-2 (272-274)

The Tatti's fell at the quarter final stage of the KO Cup after a very close game against Walt's Ramblers.

On a damp and dreary night the skittling matched the weather with neither side excelling.
The only highlight was the Ramblers young sticker who was drafted in at the last minute to make up the numbers. Playing his first ever game he probably won the game for his team on his final go. He launched his ball down the alley and saw it cladder the pins to score an 8. If he'd missed and scored less than 6 then the result would have gone the orther way.

11th January v Woodentops (H) Lost 375 - 380

A good performance and home score by the Tatti's couldn't prevent them from losing 375-380 at the hands of Woodentops who must absolutely love playing at the Snooker Centre.

The Bogoes knew they were up against it from the off as Woodentops arrived boasting a 100% record against them at this venue having won all of the four previous matches. After three legs apiece the Tatti's held the edge being 3 pins ahead however, Woodentops saved their best until last felling a superb 106 leg.

Needing 104 to win was a tough challenge which soon became almost impossible when the bottom halfers could only get the leg total up to 41. The top half needed a massive 63 and Captain Ali, who is in tremedous form at present, provided some hope by adding a brilliant 16 spare to his opening 15 flopper. They just needed one more spare, a 13 would do it together with a couple of 8's & 9's, but unfortunately, Ali's spare was their final act of good fortune. The others who followed him all punched out the front pin with their first ball and the match winning spare opportunity the Bogoes craved had eluded them.

On a more positive note news soon came through that their main challengers, Evans SC, had also lost (against The 'C'on Men) so it's 'as you were' in the title race.

I touched upon this earlier and I must say more, Captain Ali is playing some sublime skittles at present. During the last ten games his average is almost 35 pins and he's risen to the summit of the averages table. He's now taken over the mantle from Westy who's occupied the position for the previous 14 weeks, since his very first game infact, previous to that Cheeso was there for one week and Liam for two. Ali, is now looking down on a chasing pack of Westy -3 (pins behind), Cheeso -15, Benny -30, Berti -33, Rusty -34 and Booby -37. Time to get serious Al!

4th January v 'C'on Men (A) Won 339 - 329

The first match of 2019 saw the Tatti's travel to the Golden Lion, the venue where it all began for them on 23rd August 1991 in Divison Six. Way back then they competed against an under strengthed Generals team at Home, winning 317-240, this time they were playing 'C'on Men who are having their first ever season in the top flight.

As it happens, the Tatti's first and current season (their 28th) are the only occasions when the the two teams have competed against eachother in the league and coincidentally, the away fixtures have occurred almost exactly 27 years apart (3rd Jan 1992 & 4th Jan 2019). But that is where the similarities end.

In 1992 the game was played at the Conservative Club when 'C'on Men were known as Conservative 'C'. The Tatti's were diabolical that night suffering what remains their worst ever total when fielding a full strength team at 'normal' skittles (not Front Pin). Five players scored less than 20 and nobody reached 30 as they slumped to defeat by 15 pins. Unfortunately, the venue has long since been converted into residential use.

A third of the Tatti's team chalked up on the board above played in both games. For those Bogoes players reading this can you name them?

Anyway, with Captain Ali leading the way with a superb 37, there was no risk of a repeat performance this time and the Tatti's claimed another two points with a comfortable ten  pins victory.
