20th December v Military 'D' (A) Won 365-360

The Tatti's end 2019 by completing a double over their nearest challengers Military 'D', 365-360, and will start 2020 with a very healthy nine points lead in the title race.

In many ways this game was similar to the previous week with the Bogoes starting poorly, even worse if Holly hadn't felled his 13 spare, and then recovering immediately with an excellent ton plus leg in the second leg before pinching the result by a few pins.

Ali starred with 38 thanks to a very important 16 spare that became the catalyst for a brilliant run of four spares in five goes. Whilst Turps, Westy & Berti all failed to capitalise anywhere near as well as their Captain, the trio adding a mere five pins between them with Ali adding seven on his own, the lead it created was sufficient for them hold on to until the very end despite two huge late spares by the D's.

Not content with being top of the tree at Christmas Captain Ali invited a trialist to attend the match and assessed him after the game. We're not 100% sure on this but it appears he was suitably impressed enough to sign on the mystery man. Rumour has it that the fee agreed between the pair was three pints of Ali's favourite Rattler cider!

He looks familiar, anyone know who he is?

13th December v Military 'D' (H) Won 377-370

The Tatti's go seven points clear at the top of the league table by beating closet challengers Military 'D' by seven pins in a high scoring match at the Snooker Centre, 377-370.

The Bogoes started the game off with probably their worst efforts of the season which resulted in a dire sub 80 leg. Turps almost rescued it but his spare ball flew straight through the gap between the pins. The impetus was now with Military 'D' who, with three spares by the half way stage, showed why they are second in the league, leaving the Tatti's more than a hundred to level.

With their 100% record threatened the fightback started immediately as Pryce & Holly both floored spares. Captain Ali soon added a third and with some solid scoring from the top half they nudged into a slender lead by a few pins.

The third leg commenced in the same vain as the first with the top half suffering another poor 39, but this time Turps made full use of his spare chance with a fabulous 16. It made the leg respectable and meant Military D required 92 to level which, as it happens, was exactly what they achieved with a brace of spares.

On to a one leg shoot out then & with a couple of excellent 15 spares the D's put themselves in pole position to take all the points with a cracking 98 total.

The really tough total of 99 to win looked unlikely until TK floored eight down with his first ball. Unfortunately, he missed the single pin with his second ball but just seeing a spare chance gave the team the lift it needed. Statto who was up next and he also floored eight with his first ball but then took the single pin smack in the middle. He finished with a game changing 14 spare thanks to a great final delivery.

A couple of unlucky five's from Turps & Cheeso could have killed off the momentum but instead it fired up the usually calm Westy. With four players to go & 37 pins to win another spare was now an absolute necessity and he rose to the challenge with a fantastic flopper 17.

Raising both arms into the air Westy surged a few steps down the alley and back in celebration before returning to his seat absolutely shattered but chuffed with his mammoth effort. Stuee Griff made the result absolutely certain with a good 12 spare before Berti, like his boy earlier, missed a single pin spare chance, but it didn't matter because he felled the winning pins anyway. What a game and what a finish.

11th December v Bridgemen (Front Pin R3) Won 235-196

The Tatti's eased their way into the quarter final of the Front Pin cup with a comfortable 39 pins victory over Bridgemen at the Military Club, 235-196

Rusty shone more than all the rest with a very good 33 thanks to a well taken 15 spare to pip Captain Ali to the highest score by a single pin. Leading by example, Ali's 13 spare on the first leg spurred the team on to a huge lead of 22 pins which Bridgemen never really threatened to close.

6th December v Richmond 'A' (A) Won 343-311

The Tatti's extend their 100% run to 16 matches with solid away win over Richmond 'A' at the Richmond Club, 343-311

The plastic pins made for a game in which good skittling resulted in poor scoring and vice-versa. Ne'r mind, a wins a win and the Bogoes now look forward to next week when they will meet the challenge of second placed Military 'D' in the first of the turn-around league matches before Xmas.

Thursday, 5 December 2019

4th December v Fire Brigade (KO Rnd3) Won 3-1 (331-293)

The Tatti's progressed through to the quarter final of the KO cup with a very good 3-1 victory over Fire Brigade at the Snooker Centre.

The team totals appear to show a convincing 38 pins win for the Bogoes however, in reality, the relatively new format of the KO cup (devised by Rob Weale) meant that when the Tatti's began their final leg Fire Brigade were the favourites to progress further in the competition. The situation was as follows:

  • Singles: 9 to win
  • Pairs: 20 to win (need a spare)
  • Triples: already won
  • Fours: 33 to win (three 8's and a 9)
So in the end the key score was Boundy's 11. Anything less than a spare at that point would have resulted in Rusty having to get the 9 to avoid defeat.

Good game that & another excellent performance by the team. Well done to Westy & Captain Ali for scoring in the 40's.

29th November v Wellies (A) Won 354-344

The Tatti's 100% run continues on into December with a very good away win against Wellies 354-344.

Top of the averages Jonah found the going tough, as did Holly, but the team played well as a unit again with others weighing in with spares at crucial times. Prycer's 11 rescued the third leg & Liam's 12 raised the players spirits, spurring them on to an excellent 98 final leg.

Friday, 29 November 2019

27th November v Beevers (MvM Rnd3) Won 8-2 (330-284)

A stunning 18 flopper spare ball by Turps helped the Tatti's to ease past the Beevers and into the next round of the Man v Man cup. They ran out comfortable winners by a an 8-2 margin and Turps finished the night as the Bogoes star performer on 41.

Saturday, 23 November 2019

22nd November v The 'C'on Men (H) Won 370-360

Despite being beaten 6-4 in the spare count the Tatti's maintained their 100% record with a 10 pins victory over The 'C'on Men at the Snooker Centre, 370-360.

Sunday, 17 November 2019

15th November v Wranglers (A) Won 356-336

The Tatti's travelled to the Plough Inn, their home alley during season 2013/14, and beat newly promoted Wranglers by 20 pins, 356-336

Saturday, 9 November 2019

8th November v Woodpeckers (H) Won 393-351

The Tatti's overcome the challenge of Woodpeckers by 42 pins with another awesome performance at the Snooker Centre, just a few pins shy of the 400 mark, 393-351.

A shaky start by the top half was rescued by Turps with a no nonsence 12 spare and when Joner followed suit with a 13 the Bogoes were in full swing.

The only blemish on the bottom section of the board is Liam's opening 5, and possibly you could argue Jonah's 6, but the rest of their scores are 7's, 8's, 9's and spares, excellent skittling. Liam didn't let his dissapointing opener get to him mind as he helped himself to a brace of spares to end the night with his best score of the season so far and the Tatti's top scorer with a superb 43 total.

Whilst the top half weren't quite at the same levels of their colleagues below they managed to match them in the spare count with three apiece thanks to birthday boy Stuee who recovered quickly from his poor start with an 11 & a brilliant 18.

There's not much between the Top v Bottom now as the Top lead 5-4 after nine games and they're seven pins ahead, 1,674-1,667.

Tuesday, 5 November 2019

1st November v Woodentops (A) Won 323-299

Although a long way off their best, the Tatti's managed to make it 9 wins from 9 with a 24 pins victory over Woodentops at The Barrels, 323-299.

One very poor leg by Woodentops & one very good leg by the Bogoes determined the outcome of the match by the halfway point. The rest of the skittling can be described as mediocre at best with all of the other legs being sub 80's.

It was yet another night at the Barrels for Booby to quickly forget, scoring just 23 and the same can be said for Liam on 22. But, spare a thought for Berti though, who suffered the most with a dire 20 to make the best claim yet for this seasons wooden spoon. Going into the final leg Cheeso was odd on favourite for this accolade but he somehow saved himself with a fantastic flopper 14.

Well done to Captain Ali, Rusty, Turps who all scored 30 however, the star of the evening was Statto who beat them all with 31 after he achieved a 12 spare in the only decent leg of the match.

Saturday, 26 October 2019

25th October v Buccaneers (H) Won 371-335

The Tattibogoes 100% record remains intact following a comfortable 36 pins victory over Buccanners, 371-335, at the Snooker Centre.
Although the performance wasn't anywhere near the levels of their previous home game it was sufficient to claim two more points and keep them at the top of the table.

Captain Ali & Holly starred with 36 apiece while Berti completed his 1,000th competitve match with a pretty drab 26.

Friday, 25 October 2019

23rd October v Bridgemen (Man v Man Cup R2) Won 5-4 (301-298)

The Tatti's overcame the challenge of fellow division 1 team Bridgemen in a closely fought Man v Man cup match at the Snooker Centre, 5.5 -v- 4.5

Liam starred with an excellent performance to finish on 38 beating his apposing man by 8 pins. Holly, was next best with 34 and Rusty recovered from a rough start to end up with 32.

Saturday, 19 October 2019

18th October v Barton (A) Won 353-301

Another good performance this time on a tricky Lads Club alley saw the Tatti's defeat Barton by 52 pins, 353-301 and keep their 100% record intact.

Berti returned refreshed from a well earned rest in Turkey & despite a poor 5 in the opening leg he finished the evening as the Bogoes top scorer thanks to a flopper 16 sandwiched between a pair of 9's

At the opposite end of the fortunes Rusty suffered the most to overtake Liam by a pin in the race for the Tatti's lowest individual score of the season.

Tuesday, 15 October 2019

11th October v Beevers (H) Won 433-367

No need to say anything, just look at the scoreboard, yes look at it, it's the Tatti's highest ever score.... awesome skittling.

4th October v Bridgemen (A) Won 376-336

The Tatti's 100% record never looked under threat as they coasted to a 40 pins victory over Bridgemen at the Military Club

Stuee & Captain Ali took all the plaudits with an impressive 37 while Cheeso was unfortunate nopt to jopin them being just a pin behind on 36.

27th September v Phoenix Nights (H) Won 399-318

The Tatti's were on top form for the arrival of Phoenix Nights to defeat them by a massive 81 pins at the Snooker Centre.

Usually Phoenix put up a stern challenge so it was a surprise to everyone to see three sub 80 legs chalked up on the board.

It was the complete opposite for the Bogoes who, on the back of a very good win against Evans the previous week, had quite a few players hitting their best of the season so far. None more so that Westy & Booby who reached into the 40's although Rob was unfortunate not to achieve a complete set of four spares.

The only slight dissappointment was missing out on the magical 400 mark but, if the team can repeat this showing and make better use of the spares, I'm sure it's coming very soon.

20th September v Evans SC (A) Won 322-316

Last season's champions Evans have been in excellent form recently, particularly at home, so the Tatti's knew they would have to perform well to have any chance of winning.

When they took to the alley they saw a target of 85 to level. Oddly enough, and without the presence of Rodders, they managed to stay in touching distance, just a pin behind, by felling eight 7's a couple of 9's and a pair of 5's.

Immediately afterwards Prycer felled a brilliantly taken spare (as he did in the previous match) to put the Bogoes on track for another good 80+ leg at the Volly.

Returning for their third leg it was a pleasant surprise to see that Evans had suffered a dire sub 70 leg to hand the Bogoes a great opportunity to claim all the points. Despite a few hiccups along the way, most noteably from Booby, they held their nerve to run out victors by six pins. Rusty's excellent 9 to finish off a very impressive performance at no.1 meant he shared the Tatti's top score with anchor man Prycer on 31.

Congratulations to Captain Ali Hunt for completing his 1,000th competitive match for the Tattibogoes.

13th September v Fire Brigade (H) Won 371-352

After being awarded the two points due to Harry's Lads not being able to play on the opening week of fixtures the Tatti's finally got their season underway with a solid 19 pins victory at home over Fire Brigade, 371-352.

Prycer was the first to achieve a spare, a well taken 15 in the second leg, but they then had to wait until the very end of game when a trio of spares from Cheeso Stuee and Booby put the game to bed.

Weale's flopper 18 enabled him to pinch the honour of being the Bogoes top scorer from Stuee by a single pin.

5th April v Livin on a Spare (Man v Man Cup Final) Lost 5-7 (361-377)

The Tatt's last match of the 2018/19 season ended in defeat in the Man v Man final against Living on a Spare 5-7.

Although the scoreline appears to show a close game in reality it wasn't. Living on a Spare were much the better team on the night and deserved their success while too many of the Bogoes players were below par.

However, that can't be said of Prycer & Captain Ali who, for the previous five matches have been fighting it out in a close battle for the Tatti's Highest Average of the season. Ali had thought he's seen off all challengers when he overtook Westy who had been in prime position for fifteen weeks however, Prycer, who was twelth at that time, found an amazing run of form to surge up the table. With five matches to play Prycer had amazingly overtaken Ali to lead by 5 pins and it appeared Ali may be missing out on the Averages title yet again.
Not this time though, after being runner up on six occasions in 28 years, he dug deep to find his best performance of the season with a 47 against Wellies. It returned him to the top & he managed to hold on over the last few games despite some good scoring from Prycer including in this final match. Congratulations Ali.

3rd April v Barton (Man v Man Cup Semi Final) Won 11-1 (369-308)

The Tatti's defeated Barton by a huge 11-1 margin at the Richmond Club to reach their seventh Man versus Man Cup final. It also equalled their best result in the competition.

Rob Weale celebrated his birthday in style, flying out of the blocks with a first leg spare and then finishing off with another to take all the plaudits as top scorer.  Boundy wasn't too far behind with a n excellent effort of 38 while Liam showed his 'ol man how to hit a single pin as he helped himself to a brace of spares and a good total of 36. The Bogoes now take on Living on a Spare in the final.

Tuesday, 2 April 2019

29th March v Vaga (Man v Man Cup Q.Final) Won 7-4 (369-338)

The Tatti's fought back from an excellent opening leg by the Vaga to claim a 7-4 victory in the quarter final of the Man v Man Cup at the Railway Club

Wednesday, 27 March 2019

27th March v Military 'D' (Front Pin Final) Won 295-256

The Tatti's claimed their sixth Front Pin Cup with a convincing 39 pins win in the final, 295-256, against Military 'D'.

Captain Ali played a blinder with a faultless 37 total, setting a new personal best at front pin, whilst Boundy & Cheeso joined Ali in the thirties after achieving the only other spares on the night.
It was an evening of note for Westy too as he completed his 900th appearance for the Bogoes.

22nd March v Wellies (H) Won 395-351

The Tatti's put in a fine performance to end their league campaign, beating Wellies by 44 pins, 395-351 however, Evans SC also won their final match at home v Phoenix Nights to claim the Championship. Congratulations to them.

Captain Ali led from the front yet again with a superb 47 including a brace of spares. He now finds himself in prime position to take the averages title, leap frogging Prycer, although there is only 5 pins between them with potentially four matches remaining.
Westy is third but now 22 pins behing Ali so will be looking for his best form to return to mount a challenge.

Sunday, 17 March 2019

15th March v Harry's Lads (A) Lost 311-318

After defeating Evans SC a coupe of days earlier to join them at the top of the table the Tatti's were in confident mood for the match against Harry's Lads at the Railway. However, not for the want of trying, spare chances never materialised whilst Harry's Lads had no such problems. They took advantage with four spares and held out at then end to win by 7 pins, 318-311.

This result means that Evans SC, who narrowyly beat the Wellies, now just have to avoid a home defeat at the Volunteer against Phoenix Nights to clinch the championship.

Wednesday, 13 March 2019

13th March v Evans SC (A) Won 325-303

Although not at their best in terms of scoring the Tatti's did enough to claim two essential points against league leaders Evans SC, 325-303.

All the plaudits must go to Dave Pryce who is in sublime form at present and has now won the sweep honours in the last three outings. He followed up Stuee's well taken spare by clearing the frame to allow Stuee to chalk up a 90 opening leg total and then floored a fantastic flopper straight afterwards. This set the Bogoes on their way to a healthy lead which Evans couldn't claw back.

It's now all square at the top of the table with just two games to play.

Sunday, 10 March 2019

8th March v Military 'D' (H) Won 384-341

Another excellent performance saw off the challenge of Military 'D' as the Tatti's won by 43 pins, 384-341.

Prycer was on top form again with two brilliant spares to equal the Bogoes highest score of the season set by Stuee Griff against Fire Brigade on the 1st Feb. Stuee also got into the 40's thanks to a 16 spare whilst Westy almost joined them too but the 18th pin wobbled & stayed up to give him a 'Vornie'!

This important victory enabled the Tatti's to stay within two points of league leaders Evans SC and cling on to their hopes of winning a 13th Division One title. As it happens, Evans SC are also going for their 13th title too and they'll be playing eachother in the next game at the Volunteer. Whoever wins the title will join Bartonsham 'B' as joint holders of the most Div.1 titles in the history of Hereford skittles.

Thursday, 7 March 2019

1st March v Shop Assistants (A) Won 377-323

The Tatti's put in another very good performance to defeat bottom of the table Shop Assistants by 54 pins and keep the pressure on league leaders Evans SC.

It was their 24th successive win over Shops which spans a period more than 20 years. Their last defeat (by 9 pins) was on 19th September 1997 when Liam, who was very unfortunate in this game, was just 2 years old!

Well done to Berti, Booby & Prycer for making it a hat-trick of 40's.

Sunday, 24 February 2019

22nd February v Bridgemen (H) Won 376-335

Another good home performance enable the Tatti's to run out comfortable victors by 41 pins against Bridgemen, 376-335.

After suffering a hat-trick of dismal low 20 displays Captain Ali's patience with Berti had finally run out and he decided to chalk his name up in the bottom half. To begin with placing him no.7 seemed to have had little effect but, after recovering from the shock, he produced a brace of spares. It wasn't enough to prevent the top half winning though as Booby starred in Berti's no.2 spot with a superb 41, his highest score of the season, and it just edged them to a 4 pins victory over the bottom half.

Prycer welcomes in a top half reject

20th February v Evans SC (Front Pin Semi Final) Won 310-271

The Tatti's progressed through to their 12th Front Pin final with an excellent 39 pins victory over Evans SC, 310-271.

It was a repeat of the 1994 fixture when the Bogoes also scored 310 to beat Evans SC by 17. On that occasion the game was played at the Sportsman Club (Hereford United Supporters Club) No.2 alley.

The Tattibogoes will play Military 'D' in the final after they hammered Richmond Lions by 78 pins on the other Welsh Club alley 315-237. Should be a good game.

Monday, 18 February 2019

15th February v Beevers (A) Lost 349-375

The Tatti's ventured upstairs in the Snooker Centre to be met by a Beevers performance which  surpassed their best for season to date and enough to defeat the Bogoes by a comfortable margin of 25 pins, 374-349.

However. it could so easily have been much different had the many chances that came the Bogoes way in the opening two legs been taken instead of being wasted. Beevers should have returned to play their second leg chasing a big ton plus to level instead of achieving one for a healthy lead.

As it turned out, their 102 and the Tatti's response of just 81 ended the game as a contest.

Sunday, 10 February 2019

8th February v Phoenix Nights (H) Won 375-355

For the third consecutive home game the Tatti's scored a total of 375 and this time it was enough to beat their opponents, Phoenix Nights, by 20 pins.

Stuee Griff, although not celebrated by his performance, completed his 700 appearance for the Bogoes and has now joined eight others who have surpassed this milestone; Statto (718), Cheeso (725), Jonah (736), Benny (763), Prycer (765), Westy (892), Berti (981) & Captain Ali (986).

This match was also significant for another reason too. It was the first time both Berti & Ali had been dropped for the same game since 20th October 2000 when they watched their team lose to Richmond HUSC at K's Pool Club. The previous game, versus Shop Assistants at K's, Ali had suffered a 20 & Berti a 23.
The only other occasion when this happened was in the very first season, twenty seven years ago, when they witnessed a 40 pin win over Wiggin Rams on 6th February 1992. The game before, versus Herefordians at the Legion Club, Ali had scored 20 & Berti 23.

One final stat from this game, Liam's 13 in the second leg was the Bogoes 100th spare of the season (excludes front pin).

Sunday, 3 February 2019

1st February v Fire Brigade (A) Won 402-376

The Tatti's achieved their third 400+ of the season away against Fire Brigade to win by 26 pins.

Stuee Griff starred with a fantastic 47, his best score in almosr eight years and 30th time in the forty's, while Turps found playing at No.1 to his liking with his best performance to date and his first 40+ for the Bogoes.

Question, does anyone know who these imposters were?

Sunday, 27 January 2019

25th January v Barton (H) Won 375 - 323

The Tatti's ran out comfortable victors by 52 pins against division one newcomers Barton who are in real danger of going straight back down.

It was the 16th occasion that the teams have met and all have ended up with the same outcome. Captain Ali starred in this one, achieving his best score of the season thanks to a couple of excellent spares, and he now joins Rusty & Benny on the highest individual score.

After the game Stuee complained to Ali that he was a lucky git and warned him that he'd be the one to stop him winning the averages this season!
