18th Dec v. Div.1 v Busbars (A) W 364-312

The Tatti's recorded their first double of the season with a massive 51 pins victory over Busbars at the Golden Lion.

Stuee Griffiths claimed back to back sweeps with an excellent 38, thanks to his late 14 spare, and was rewarded with a bowl of fruit immediately afterwards.

Stuee's spare sparked his bottom half colleagues Jonah, Allan, & Boundy to do likewise and with these four spares they scored their best so far this season with a 63 leg & 192 total.

11th Dec v. Div.1 v Busbars (H) W 352-330

The Tatti's gain two more points with a win at home against Busbars by 22 pins, 352-330.

Benny, Cheeso, Griff, Prycer & Statto all felled spares but the highlight of the evening was Allan Farr's exhibition of alternative skittling.

The deliveries for his opening nine being particularly special, each ball in order:

  1. Hit right hand copper takes long back three
  2. Hit left hand copper taking out back two
  3. Peach of a ball hitting front pin to take it down & the remaining no.2, no.3 & middle pin.

4th Dec. Div.1 v City Sports (A) W 388-347

The Tatti's returned to winning ways with a superb 388 at the City Sports Club.

Three seasons ago, the Bogoes were short on numbers for this fixture so Holly was selected to perform as the 'A.N Other'. He proceeded to take the limelight with a score of 40 for AN Other and 35 in his own name, the best two scores on the night. However, in this match he found the going much tougher, ending up as the lowest scorer on 23.

With history repeating itself they were a man short again, but this time Captain Ali dragged Sammer out of his temporary retirement to help out. Neil last played more than seven years ago but watching from the sidelines you would not have known it.  His excellent 32 could easily have been many pins more had he been more fortunate with a few of his deliveries.

With 43, Cheeso weighed in with his highest score in eight months after opening with a brilliant 17 spare. It was his 18th 40+ haul & on every occasion he's done this the Bogoes win their match.

The star player though was reigning averages champion Prycer. He topped off an excellent performance with a brace of spares to finish with one more pin than Cheeso. It was his 26th 40+ in his Tatti career and the third on the City Sports alley.

27th Nov. Div.1 v Fire Brigade (H) L 346-375

The Tatti's were blown away by a very special opening leg by Fire Brigade who went on to record their highest ever total against the Bogoes.

In comparison, their second leg was p*ss poor, but with the Tatti's struggling to find spares, it didn't matter and they went on run out comfortable winners. In fact recent history shows this was on the cards as you have to go back nearly three years to find the previous victory for the Bogoes in this fixture. It's very much a different story for the return match because the Tatti's have never lost to the Brigade on their home alley. The records show six wins & one draw since 1992.
Happy Birthday Mr Bound

20th Nov. Div.1 v Harry's Lads (A) L 321-343

The Tatti's excellent away run against Harry's Lads came to an end when they lost by 21 pins, 321-343, their heaviest defeat of the season so far.

The run started almost eleven years ago on 3rd December 2004, when they won 335-329 and a further eight victories were added until they finally succombed in this match.

With Harry's Lads first leg of 72 the Bogoes had a great chance to go into a healthy lead but yet another poor opening put paid to that. Before long Harry's Lads found their championship winning form and a few spares on the board meant the Tatti's required a third leg of 90 to level.

Stuee did manage to achieve a spare for the Tatti's but by the time it arrived the game was over as a contest, along with any thoughts of extending their winning away run into double figures.

Some stats from the nine wins at the GWRSA Club v Harry's Lads:

  • The Tatti's have fielded 24 different players.
  • Capt. Ali & Berti played in every game.
  • The player with the highest average is Statto 31.67
  • The highest individual score was 40 achieved by Statto & Prycer
  • The highest leg was 94, the lowest 70.
  • A total of nineteen spares felled, most in one match was six & least was a spare-less game in the victory last season.

13th Nov. Div.1 v Beevers (H) W 367-322

The Tatti's returned to winning ways with a 45 pins victory against Beevers at the Snooker Centre.

At first glance it may appear to be an easy win however it would have been a completely different game without the efforts of their current averages champion Dave 'Miller' Pryce.

Another dismal opening leg seemed on the cards until he rescued it with a fabulous 17 spare. It was the fourth match in succession that Miller has floored a spare and in the process he's risen six places up the averages table from 10th to 4th.

It was a huge turning point in the match helping the Bogoes to pick up two more valuable points & stay in touch with the leading pack. It's now all very close at the top with only two points between the Tatti's next opponents Harry's Lads in 6th & table toppers Richmond Northend.

6th Nov. Div.1 v Phoenix Nights (A) L 363-355

Another poor start to a game this time came away against an in form Phoenix Nights who this season have scored above 360 in every game on their home alley.

It's often said that "Spares win games" very true for the outcome of this match, & even more so when you look at how Phoenix Nights really made them count.

The Tatti's will have to wait another week for an opportunity to record their 700th victory.

Top scorers for the Tatti's were Ali & Westy

30th Oct. Div.1 v Military 'D' (H) D 358-358

For the third home game in a row the Tatti's heaped pressure on themselves by starting with a poor opening leg.

Their opponents this time were Military 'D' who took full advantage by flooring two excellent legs in the nineties.  Then facing a huge 114 to level the Bogoes bottom halfers chucked in their 12th sub 40 of the season and the game looked over as a contest until the top half got into their stride.
A devastating spell started with a trio of 9's followed by a few spares from Rusty, Berti & Booby and an 8 by Rusty which would also have been a spare had he taken his single pin opportunity.

Despite another single pin chance missed by Jonah, Prycer weighed in with a superb 14 spare to complete a fabulous ton plus third leg & the fightback was on.

When Military 'D' returned to the alley they faced a target of 81 again, but this time they found the alley much more difficult. A couple of poor 80 legs followed to leave the Tatti's needing 83 to win.

In normal circumstances 83 should be routine but on this occasion it was one pin more than they could achieve & so both teams ended the night with a point apiece.

As it happens, this was the second time this fixture has ended in a draw. The last time was at K's in January 2006 when the Bogoes also needed 83 pins to win.

23rd Oct. Div.1 v Richmond Lions (A) W 374-347

The Tatti's celebrated their 700th League match with a good 27 pins win over Richmond Lions at the Richmond Club.

Current averages holder Prycer achieved the lowest & highest individual scores of the night, in succession, before settling down with a couple of eights to finish as the star player.

16th Oct. Div.1 v Evans SC (H) W 345-336

The Tatti's claimed a couple of valuable points with a home win over Evans SC by nine pins.

However, following a dire first leg of just 71, the outcome looked very different when Evans surged into an 11 pins lead.  They then followed up with a 90+ second leg to go 105 in front and looked well set for a fourth successive away victory over the Tatti's. In fact the last time they lost was almost exactly five years ago on 15th Oct 2010 on the Lads Club No.3 alley, when Stuee Griffiths father appeared in the Tatti line up.

After seeing the scores & taking stock of the situation the Bogoes began their fightback. A superb second leg of 95 without a spare was backed up with another good 90+ thanks to a late Jonah wonder spare.

Despite these efforts though, Evans remained in the driving seat requiring just 82 to level. So when the Tatti's returned to complete proceedings they were pleasantly urprised to see a target of just 79 to win. And, the points were soon bagged with the struggling Benny doubling his score with a 12 spare and Holly achieving his fourth successive 29 total.

Finally, a special mention goes to Boundy who is sitting pretty at the top of the Tatti's averages table. With a 29 he narrowly failed to extend his run of five successive scores in the 30's, but its his best ever start to a new season and, currently he's the most improved player from last season.

9th Oct. Div.1 v Richmond Northend (A) L 339-340

After three matches, both Tattibogoes and Northend boasted a 100% record in the league however, neither looked potential champions in this match.

The first leg was ok but from then on the Bogoe's skittling was pretty shocking at times. The few exceptional moments, most notably a couple of brilliant spares from Boundy & Westy plus a routine one from Benny, served only to spread false hopes to the rest of the team. In the end the Tatti's efforts resulted in their lowest score ever on this alley & a deserved defeat.

Congratulations to Northend who now sit pretty at the top of the table & the only team in division one with a 100% record.

After struggling to 20 Stuee overtakes Benny in the race to Button Moon.

2nd Oct. Div.1 v Woodentops (A) W 343-327

The Tatti's traveled to The Barrels for the second time this season & were rewarded with another victory, this time by 16 pins over Woodentops to avenge their defeat in this fixture last season.

The two Russ's starred with 37 apiece. Cheeso got off to a fabulous start flooring 17, while Rusty saved his best until last with an important 14, which probably secured the two points.

After missing last weeks fixture, due to being arrested & charged with over-celebrating Wales beating England in the rugby world cup, Rob Weale returned to the fold & produced a pleasing performance at a venue where he's struggles in the past.
Rumour has it that this time Mick Wills gave him a few tips before the game.

25th Sept. Div.1 v Ramblers (H) W 347-325

The Tatti's are searching for a massive improvement in their home form having won just five of their thirteen games last season.

In this, the first game, they faced a good test against Ramblers who beat them comfortably last season 326-347. This time around they found the going much tougher and despite matching the Bogoes spare count at three apiece the result was almost an identical reverse with the Tatti's winning 347-325.

The Bogoes opening leg was average at best and the second seemed to be going the same way until Berti weighed in with a 13 spare, making the most of his single pin opportunity. A few moments later he returned for his third go & added another spare which came from a flopper first ball delivery.

Bottom half stalwart Phil 'Benny' Hill was watching from the sidelines and wondering if he and his colleagues will ever win a leg this season. He refused to comment on the issue as he saw the top half complete a hat-trick of white washes.

18th Sept. Div.1 v Buccaneers (A) W 349-318

The Tatti's competed at the new Hereford FC alley for the first time and got off to a superb start with a huge opening leg of 109.

Cheeso & Captain Ali's spares was the highlight of the leg which contained four 7's, two eights & four 9's.

In start contrast to this their second leg was pretty abysmal just a mere 69 pins felled. Fortunately though their opposition, Buccaneers also struggled on their new home alley and never threatened to make a comeback.

In the end the Bogoes ran out comfortable winners by 31 pins as Captain Ali topped the scoring again with a very good 35, his motivational tapes are having a positive effect!

11th Sept. Man v Man Cup R2 v Strongbow Won 8-3

The Tatti's started their 25th season with an 8-3 victory over Strongbow in the Man v Man cup at the Barrels.

Rusty got proceedings off to a flier with a spare but it was Captain Ali who eventually stole the limelight with the top score of 35 after flooring a 15 spare in the third leg.
Cheeso had a smashing night beating his opponent by 15.
