The Tatti's achieved this seasons highest away score in Division One but it wasn't enough to secure victory over Painters B, who finished with an excellent 101 to win by a single pin, 374-375.
Booby starred with a 'Vorni' 39 thanks to a superb 18 in the third leg which could have been even more with a double flopper had the back pin fallen down on his second delivery.
The Bogoes can take some comfort from the fact they are now leading the race for the seasons highest away score plaque and have an opportunity to do likewise in the title race when they entertain FJ Lions at the Military Club next week. However, they will have to make do without Booby who will be in Malaysia being inducted into the first-ever World Bowls hall of fame.
"This fixture has produced some excellent games over the years some very high scoring non more so than in 2007 when an amazing 805 pins were floored. This didn’t look like it was going to be one of those with both teams sorting slowly, however the game caught fire on Painters 2nd leg with the home side scoring 105 and with a 3rd leg of 93 we were really under it when we returned to the alley. 105 to catch them then, Rob’s brilliant flopper 18 got us going and with further spares by Vorni(13) and finished off once again by Dave’s brilliant 16 we chalked up 108. A excellent last leg of 97 aided by Liams well taken 15 and his dads 12 left the home side 101 win. Painters started strongly but without a spare until with 39 wanted off 4 a 17 turned the game in their favour. Hats off to the home side getting the required target with just one spare was a fantastic feat. Rob topped scored with a brilliant ‘Vorni’ and was well supported by excellent scores from Liam(38) Dave (37) Ian(35) and Vorni(34). Need to bounce back quickly with a tough fixture up next against the league leaders "
