The Tatti's ended the year with a very good away win, by 17 pins, against Fire Brigade at the Q Club, 359-342.
Westy starred with an excellent Vorni 39 thanks to two flopper 14's, with Prycer just a few pins behind him doing what Prycer always does. He has a lovely habit of getting crucial spares when the Tatti's desperately need them, hence why Captain Ali plays him last, and his 16 on the third leg turned the game.
A solid 88 without a spare on the final leg turned out to be more than enough for the win. Merry Christmas & happy New Year everyone!
"Always one of the toughest fixtures against a very good fire brigade team. Although the margin of victory looks like it was a comfortable win it was far from that. The home side started strongly lee silcox kicking things off with 17 but they will probably feel they let us off with an opening leg of 88. We somehow managed to match that thanks to Craig’s excellent flopper 14 and when he repeated the feat on the 2nd leg we chalked up a leg of 89. Fire brigade responded well with 91 and 86 so once again when we came to alley it was 88 to catch them !! Cheese’s well taken spare rescued the top half and it looked for all the money that we’d be down on 3 legs until Dave produced a fantastic flopper 16 to put us 6 up. Good solid skittling we finished as we started with another 88 to leave our opponents 95 for victory. Not easy on their alley so when the early spare didn’t materialise the two points were ours. Great win and much needed to just about stay in contention for the league. Craig topped scored and although disappointed he achieved an excellent ‘Vorni’ with Dave notching a good 36. Merry Xmas and a happy new year to you all"
