24th November 23 v Evans SC (H) Lost 357-358

The Tatti's lose for the first time this season, by a single pin, at home to Evans SC, 357-358

Despite a huge effort in the final leg, the Bogoes' poor opening leg of just 80 pins cost them. It was their lowest 1st leg of the season so far.

Vorni redeemed himself, after suffering an awful 3, with two good spares, the second of which gave the Tatti's hope of victory. This was backed up with a run of solid 7's & 8's until Berti weighed in with a flopper 14 spare giving Booby an opportunity to complete the perfect comeback.

However, requiring an 8 for a victory, which seemed unlikely at the outset of the leg, he suffered punches with his first two balls. Three more pins were needed from the four that remained standing but, just as quickly as the chance for victory arrived, it had ended when Boobys' final ball felled only a solitary pin.

Although disappointed to lose their first league match of the season the Tatti's can take many positives from a fantastic final leg effort, so, so close.

"Fantastic game between two top sides !! We were out spared by 7 to 3 which was probably the deciding factor on which way the result went !! Left 104 to win it was a brilliant effort aided by spares from Vorni and the returning Ian, who top scored with 38, but unluckily it wasn’t to be as we fell short to lose the game by 1. Well played to Evans ( you could say the postmen delivered!!)"

Evans SC Captains' comment:

"Firstly, thank you to Mr Yeld for electing to stand down for me. I hope I repaid the faith. After Tatts let us in with an unusually low 80 on their first leg, we put in a rather mediocre first leg 75 of our own. Not through want of trying and we didn’t have much luck in that leg. 3 single pin spares followed in leg 2, however, to leave Tatts 92 to level. They came back as we knew they would with 88 and 87 to leave us 83 to level. It started well enough with a 13 from the captain and was saved by a lovely 14 from Stu to get us up to 88, and a lead of 5. Stu again rose to the challenge with a phenomenal 16 spare en route to a 98 last leg. That left Tatts 104 to win. It’s never over with the Tatts and they almost conjured up the points after a flopper 2nd last from the ever reliable Ian Collins. His 14 left Mr Weale 8 to win. Luckily for us he only mustered a 6- to ensure we won by a solitary pin and ended our dismal league run of defeats. It also brought an end the Tatts sensational unbeaten start to the season. Fantastic contest. Well done all. Hopefully that will kick start a little run to get some league respectability. "
