24th November 25 v Military 'D' (Front Pin R2) Won 212-204

The Tatti's edged past Military 'D' by 8 pins to reach the quarter final of the front pin cup, 212-204

Not a great deal to say about this mediocre performance except to say well done to Jonah & Cheeso for getting the spares that eased the Tatti's through.

The Bogoes got away with half the team failing to reach 20, but they'll all need to improve to have a chance of retaining their front pin crown.

5th December 25 v Buccaneers (H) Won 378-337

Following two back-to-back league defeats the Tatti's returned to winning ways with a huge 41 pins victory over Buccaneers at the Military Club, 378-337

Yet another very disappointing opening leg, which would have been a sub 80 without Jonah's 12, left the Bogoes fearing another defeat was on the cards This was cemented by their opponents who responded with a couple of good legs boosted by a brace of 17 spares.

On returning to the alley they found themselves trailing by 99 pins. Thankfully, Jonah was in top form, flooring a brilliant 15 to provide some hope. Captain Ali took the second leg into the 90's by clearing the frame and expertly repeated this feat again straight afterwards to commence their third leg.

Just 6 pins adrift at this point, the game was back on, and Cheeso & Benny joined the party with a spare apeice. Cheeso confidently dispatched a single pin to get his 14 & Benny took full advantage on his second '5 off the quarter' chance with a wonderful 16 spare. Although there was no more heroics from Jonah the leg surpassed the magic ton to leave Buccaneers 96 to level.

When they returned to the alley to complete proceedings they saw that Bucc's, without spares, had failed to reach the 80's and 2 very welcome points were in the bag. And, the spares kept coming. This time Jonah joined in with Cheeso & Benny to record a hat-trick and all three of them surged past the 40 total.

"Great win in end and you’d think by the margin this was a comfortable victory. Far from it, another mediocre opening leg and that included a well taken 12 spare by Jonah gifted a dangerous buccaneers side the chance to put us under real pressure and they did just with good legs of 86 and 95 leaving us 99 to level when we returned to the alley. Jonah’s brilliant 15 helped us post a 2nd leg of 91 and with cheese getting a well taken 14 and Benny’s fantastic 16 it really was game on when we chalked up a 3rd leg of 104. Our opposition struggled the last two legs recording only 77 and 79 but that can happen as the night goes on on an alley that’s becomes more challenging. Jonah once again took out and excellent spare chance for 12 Benny likewise with 15 and cheese’s brilliant spare meant it was all down to who was gonna take the top score gong. Cheese’s 14 meant that went to Jonah with a brilliant total of 46 with cheese on 45 and Benny on 44, 7 spares on the night shared between the 3 of them!! Move on now another tough fixture to end the year away against a good fire brigade side"

26th November 25 v Emlyn's Victors (A) Lost 321-343

The Tatti's suffered another dent in their quest to retain the championship title with the dreaded plastic pins playing a huge part in their away game against Division 1 newcomers Emlyn's Victors at the Brewers Arms. They lost by 22 pins, 321-348

Fortune played a huge part in the scores achieved by players, so there's little point in me commenting on individual performances. On the hole, I'm saddened to say, what-ever this was it definitely wasn't skittling as we know it.

This comes across as sour grapes because the Bogoes lost the match however, win or lose, I'm always critical of the decision made back in the 1990's to allow the Amercan 'Ten-Pin' style pins to be used. Each time a ball strikes them, the resulting fall is completely random and it massively spoils the game.

Ted Rodger's famous riddles are easier to solve than working out how to play with these pins. The best place for them is inside his dusty fecking bin!😡

"Another abject team performance allowed newly promoted Emlyn's victors to take the 2 points which they fully deserved. It started so well as well with Rob’s excellent flopper but I’m afraid that was as good as it got. Craig registered our only other spare a 10 to finish to boost his score to a respectable 32 but it was Rob who topped scored with 33. Big two games now before the Xmas break against two good sides both of which we lost in the corresponding fixtures last season. You would say they are must wins !!"
