6th December 24 v Westend (A) Won 351-341

The Tatti's end the year one point clear at the top of Division 1 after a ten pins away win over Westend at the Vaga.

Apart from Cheeso's 14 spare in the opening leg there wasn't much to cheer about as they struggled to record two mediocre 80 legs. Still, there were no concerns going into the break because their opponents had faired even worse in their first leg and, being rock bottom of the league with only one victory to their name, the result was going to be a formality, ....or was it?

It's amazing how a couple of 17 spares can change the entire mood. Backed up with a 12 spare Westend penned a huge 104 leg to turn the match in their favour with a 16 pins lead at half way. Fortunately for the Bogoes they followed it up with another sub 80 to set a target of 94 to level.

After the third leg the Tatti's were still trailing by 9 pins however, a fabulous 18 spare by Eric cleared this deficit in one go & Rusty added a late 11 spare to complete the turn around. The final leg total of 99 meant Westend needed 91 to win & they fell 10 pins shy. A good game to end 2024 that.

"Outspared but it was one crucial last leg spare by Eric that probably sealed the victory. Excellent game played in good spirit it swung both ways but that brilliant 18 spare by the young man sealed the two points as we ran out winners after leaving the home side 91 to win.
Good spares by Cheese the captain and rusty along with Eric who topped scored again with a brilliant 38 (thank god we don’t pay out a sweep anymore !!🤪) mean we go into the Xmas break as league leaders.

Merry Xmas all, we go again in the new year !!"

29th November 24 v Wranglers (H) Won 326-307

Not the best performance by a long shot but gaining two points when you're poor can be seen as a good sign. The Tatti's won by 19 pins 326-307 & a week before the festive break they find themselves a point clear at the top of the league table.

Start of the show was Hollie with a well taken 12 pare in his total of 32.

"Least said the better !!
Tough night but good win in the end. Excellent performance by Dutchy who topped scored with 32 and cheese who achieved the only other spare along with Phil. 2 points, move on big game next at the Vaga"

27th November 24 v Woodentops (Front Pin Rnd 2) Won 226-155

The Tatti's eased past Woodentops in the second round of the Front Pin cup, winning by 71 pins at the Barrels, 226-155.

Berti & Benny played well with totals of 30 but a well taken spare by Cheeso in the final leg pipped them both to the top score with 31.

22nd November 24 v Harry's Lads (A) Won 385-340

The disappointment of an early exit in the KO Cup was soon forgotten as the Tatti's beat Harry's Lads, one of their main challengers for the Division 1 title, away at the Plough Inn by 45 pins, 385-340.

It was a superb team performance with eight spares felled and the lowest individual score of 27 and their total of 385 leads the race for Division One's Highest Away Score.

Hat's off to Eric again. With a hat-trick of spares, he floored another fantastic 40+, his third of the season so far and it see's him sitting very pretty at the top of the Bogoes averages table.

Excellent win against one of the main title contenders Harry’s Lads.
To our surprise they started with a poor opening leg which gave us the chance to take a strong hold on the game. We did just that with a 12 spare from Eric in the opening leg and then 3 spares by Boundy Ian and Rob to finish off the 2nd leg. This left Harry’s a big ton plus to get back in the game but they never threatened that and didn’t put us under pressure when returning for our last 2 legs.
Further spares by Eric(2), Liam, and Rusty helped us to record legs of 98 and 102 for a brilliant total of 385. Game over, excellent all round team performance which we must build on in the remaining 2 games before the Xmas break !!
A special mention for the new boy who scored a fantastic 48, 3 spares of 12,14 and 14 well done Eric !!

20th November 24 v Herefordians (KO Cup Rnd 2) Lost 2-2 (289-299)

The Tatti's bow out of the KO Cup at the hands of Herefordians. The match ended 2-2 however, they scored 10 pins less than their opponents overall to lose 289-299.

Berti top scored with 37 thanks to a 15 spare on the third leg whilst the only other spare on the night was achieved by TK Maxx.

On the opposing side, Herefordians floored three more spares, and made full use of them all, so its no surprise to anyone that they progress through to the next round.

Well done to them

Just a side note from Rodders to both Phils' who says "well played Holly & Benny, try a little harder & you'll get there one day" 😄

15th November 24 v FJ Lions (H) Won 368-325

Despite a poor opening leg the Tatti's ended with a convincing win by 43 pins, at home against table toppers FJ Lions, 368-325.

The Lions were handed a great opportunity to set the pace for this game following a dire first leg by the Bogoes however, they failed to take the initiative with a sub 80 and an 83.

On returning to the alley the Tatti players were pleasantly surprised to see the legs chalked up on the scoreboard by their opponents and took full advantage. Two excellent legs were boosted to 98 & 100 thanks to spares by Rusty, Ali, Prycer & Eric, and probably put the result out of Lions reach.

In the final leg, Eric rounded off another excellent personal performance with a fantastic 16, his eigth spare of the season, to end the night sitting very pretty at the top of the Tatti's averages table on 32.91, well done Eric!

"Excellent win against the league leaders. Lions will be disappointed because after our very poor opening leg we were there for the taking. They let us off big time and what was to follow was some excellent skittling and aided by good spares from the captain, rusty, Eric and Dave on the 2nd and 3rd legs the result was never in doubt. Returning to the alley for the last leg the talk from the terrace was who’d get the winning pins. With all bets off this was achieved by Boundy after another brilliant 16 from Eric, who once again topped scored with another fantastic 40+ total. Brilliant boys but we must show that passion, hunger and fight in what will be a very difficult trip to the Plough"

13th November 24 v Barton (Cider Cup Rnd 2) Won 7-3, 300-283

For the first Wednesday night game of the season the Tatti's played Barton, at their Lads Club home, in the second round of the Cider Cup. It was a close game for a while but they dug deep by the end to win 7-3 (300-283).

At the half way point, Booby was on 7 pins, trialing his apposite number by 5 & Berti had floored 22 & was leading Derek Smith by 7. By the end of the game the tables had turned 180 degrees in these duels with Rob winning by a pin & Berti losing by 6.

After TK Maxx secured the win with his final ball, Jonah finished on a high with a well taken 13 spare to overturn his match-up & take the highest score accolade (for the Bogoes).

As both sets of players shook hands you could have been forgiven to believe that Derek Smith was on the winning side, seeing his beaming smile & hearing his boastful comments to Berti.

Anyway, Berti reminded Derek that it was a team game & will look forward to playing in the next round. Up the Tatti's 😀

8th November 24 v Beevers (A) Lost 347-357

The Tatti's suffer their first away defeat of the season against Beevers who have recently been struggling for form themselves. It's a very rare occurrence but they felled two more spares than their opponents and still lost by 10 pins, 347-357.

Vorni starred in a lackluster team performance but even he felt disappointed because, with a hat-trick of spares, he should have scored more than 42. Ali, Booby & Holly were next best on the night helping Vorni out with the teams spare count, but the Bogoes know full well they won't win many league matches getting eleven scores below six and almost half of those being less than a 5.

Ne'r mind, on the positive side the Tatti's are only two points adrift of joint table toppers FJ Lions & Buccaneers and they'll have an opportunity to make amends for their dire efforts in this game when they come face to face with Lions next Friday at their Military Club home.

Finally, congratulations to Liam for completing his 200th competitive game for the Tatti's.

"Complementary words from the Beevers hats off to them for that and they fully deserved the win. Six spares in our total of 347 shows the level of our performance & three of those achieved by Vorni in an excellent contribution of 42. Need to bounce back next week against the top of the league"

Post match comments by Beevers Captain, Wayne Birch....

"Wow any win against tattibogoes is awesome.well bowled tonight lads especially Curtis 42 takes the £84 pot.👏..well done Chris (37) + pat (33).took advantage of a off night from tatts but there still the team beat at skittles if you want to win anything.2 wins in a row let’s make it 3 next week at mil club."

1st November 24 v Evans SC (H) Won 374-335

A big game deserves a big performance and that is exactly what the Tatti's served up for the visit of Evans SC to win by a comfortable margin of 39 pins, 374-335.

Every player played their part and none more notably than 'new boy' Eric who, with brace of spares in the second & third legs, achieved his second 40+ of the season & the Bogoes top score on the night.

The game played out under the watchful eye of 'old boy' Rodders who was surely impressed with the way in which the Tatti's started their 2nd & 4th legs, with a hat-trick of sevens'.

"Brilliant win!! 4 solid legs set us up for this victory against a surprisingly lack lustre performance from Evans who could only muster one spare on the night. New boy Eric continues to impress and with a brace of spares in his top score of 41 joins the GOAT at the top of the averages.

Cheese also excelled he too with two spares in his total of 37 and he sits in third just 3 pins behind the pair. Excellent boys, keep it going"

Post match comments by Evans SC captain....

"Well, a nightmare on Friar Street this Halloween. Tatties hammered us by 39 pins. After Tatts started with a very respectable 94 pins, we managed an 87 leg, but then just a 76 and that was pretty much that in truth. Tatts produced another leg of 88 and then a compounding 101 leg. Fair play. 3rd leg we mustered just 81, but a better last leg of 91 at least made it half respectable. 335 was all it was though and Tatts got to their target with consummate ease. They registered another 91 to take their total to an excellent 374 on a slipping alley towards the end of the match. Played in a very friendly and respectful manner, we can have no qualms at all. Well done to them. We lick our wounds and keep plugging boys."

25th October 24 v Military 'D' (A) Won 348-335

The Tatti's bounced back well to the disappointing home defeat the previous week with a very good display to win away against Military 'D' by 13 pins, 348-335

The final score paints a fake reflection of the match which was, in reality, a very close fought battle. The Bogoes found the going tough without any spare opportunities, but with some very consistent skittling they managed to match the D's 85 opening leg and achieved exactly the same score in their second leg.

By the half way point Military 'D' had edged in front with a good 88 without a spare but, despite achieving their third spare of the evening, they failed to capitalise on it to the door open for the Tatti's. However, despite some good balls being delivered, the alley was still wasn't offering up any spare opportunities and they mustered up a third leg of 82, four pins behind.

Digging deep, TK Maxx finally had a result with his opening ball. With eight pins down, he duly dispatched the solitary pin that remained standing and went on to fell three more. His twelve spare was backed up with some superb efforts that on another night/alley would have seen a further three spares chalked up for a huge ton plus total. Instead, their final leg of 96 left the D's 93 to win and, in the end, turned out to be more than enough to take the two points.

They will now look forward to another big game next week with the visit of Evans SC.

"Excellent win in a game where there was no more than four pins in it over the first three legs. Out-spared three to one but it was our solitary spare an excellent 12 by Liam that set us up for a good last leg 96 leaving the home side 93 to win. They fell short by 13 which made the result look comfortable in the end but believe me it was far from that !!

Top scoring this week was Griff with 33 and thank god 29 keeps you in otherwise it could’ve been the longest bowl off in the history of Hereford skittles!! Good game played in good spirit and hats off to military D who were very magnanimous in defeat"

18th October 24 v Buccaneers (H) Lost 364-368

The Tatti's succomb to their second home defeat of the season as Buccaneers beat them by 4 pins, 364-368.

Eric's fantastic 16 spare masked a very poor opening leg which could easily have been a sub 80 but instead, it served to keep the Bogoes in contention. Buccaneers were super quick out of the blocks with three quick spares in their top half to surge their leg above 100. They then backed this up with a very good 96 to put the Tatti's under huge pressure, trailing by 108 pins.

Despite a stuttering start to the second leg, the fightback began when Eric steadied the ship with a solid 8 after following two lacklustre efforts from TK & Benny. It sparked everyone else into life with four more 8's and two 9's to complete the second leg but, also left Rusty frustrated having wasted his spare ball.

Still trailing by 18 pins, a superb third leg of 106, boosted by Stuee's 13 & Jonah's 17, meant the Tatti's were now well back in the game, leaving Bucc's 88 to level.

When they returned to play their final leg they were pleased to see they needed 84 to win. However, they repeated their disappointing performance in the opening leg, but this time they failed to rescue it with a spare so ended up with a sub 80 total and falling 5 pins short of their target to win.

Later, news came through that their main title rivals, Evans SC & Harry's Lads both lost. FJ Lions won and sit at the top on their own, just two points ahead but there's a long way to go yet!

Eight players scoring 30 or more is good but it’s when you need them that counts but for the 2nd time this season we weren’t up to it when it mattered. Hard to find words to sum tonight’s performance but we ain’t winning feck all playing like that. Well played Jonah 36 and Eric once again top scoring with an excellent 38. Well played Buccaneers, 368 you deserved the two points.
Need to improve boys starting next week in a difficult away against Military D.

11th October 24 v The 'C'on Men (H) Won 355-321

A solid performance in the Tatti's 1,200th competitive match was more than sufficient to see off The 'C'on Men by 34 pins, 355-321.

Booby Weale stole the show with his second 40+ score of the season, with a brace of spares and much to the amazement of Vorni who bemoaned his lack of good fortune when striking the front pin with his first ball. Ne'r mind, onwards & upwards we go, eh Tatti's?

"Good win although far from spectacular it was enough to defeat The ‘C’on Men who never put us under any pressure and they will be disappointed in that because we were far from our best. Only 3 spares, one for Dutchie an excellent 14 which enabled him to achieve his highest score so far with 36 and a brace from Rob who excelled to top score with 41, his second 40+ off the season. 2 more points, well done boys"

Post match comments by The 'Con' Men's Captain....
"Averaged just over 80 a leg however, not good enough to beat the likes of Tatties. They have great strength throughout the whole team whereby, we have a few good individuals performances each week......... We don't pick up spares when they're on and, miss far too many single pins. I know we can do better, but not sure when that night is going to be...... Could do with a few more players to strengthen our squad."

4th Oct 24 v Livin on a Spare (A) Won 364-352

Another excellent team performance, with only one score below 6, brought up another away win, by 12 pins against Livin' on a Spare at the Richmond Club No.4 alley, 364-352.

Berti topped the scoring thanks to a late 13 spare pinching this accolade from Vorni who was unfortunate not to score 40+. After a good first ball on his last go he had the long three, starting from the copper, for a chance add to his spare count after felling a 12 in the third leg. His second delivery cleared the frame but, with some starting to sing "H.A.P. P. Y" others stood behind Vorni had a much better view and shouted that his ball had hit the cush on it's way to striking the outside of the copper pin. So instead of a spare Vorni had to settle for a 6.

"Excellent win against a dangerous living on a spare team. Solid skittling paved the way for the two points on an alley where spare chances were at a premium. Albeit Vorni and Ian picked up excellent spares on the last two legs which helped seal the victory after we left the home side 114 to win.
Vorni excelled with his highest score of the season (34) but with his late spare, 4 in 4 now, it was Ian who came out top of the tree with 35"

27th Sept. 24 v Fire Brigade (H) Won 408-339

The Tatti's were quick out of the blocks with a sublime 123 opening leg which ended the contest before their opponents, Fire Brigade had even begun. They ended with a 400+ total & winning by 69 pins, 408-339.

A tepid start by the top three was soon forgotten when Stuee Griff started a superb run of four spares in five goes by himself, Captain Ali, Eric & TK Maxx. As if that wasn't enough, Prycer ended the leg by helping himself to a 13 spare too having barely passed a late fitness test before the match started.

With the points already in the bag they could have eased off but instead, it was pleasing to see the excellent skittles continued with a solid spare-less 92 followed by a ton thanks to Eric's second spare of the evening.

Berti's late flopper 16 surged the team total past the 400 mark and, even though Eric 'The Red' will be disappointed to have finished with an unfortunate 4, he can celebrate being the Bogoes highest scorer for the very first time. Well done Eric, keep it up!

Better !!

Griff with a flopper 17 kicked off what was the start of 5 spares in 8 goes to set us up with a fantastic opening leg of 123 against unbeaten fire brigade. The spares dried up a bit after that but there was some excellent skittling and with only 25 needed for victory the challenge on the last leg was to reach the 400 mark. This was achieved once Ian had flopped them (16) on the second from last go.

Brilliant team performance with 10 players scoring 30 or more with Ian’s late effort pushing him to yet another total of 40 but Eric with a brace of spares of 15’s top scored with a brilliant 43.

Some encouraging news as well with both Jonah and Dave returning to the starting line up both recording good spares in there 30+ totals.

Post match comments by Frire Brigade's Captain...

"Doomed from the start with tatts out of the blocks with a great 123..solid 37 from Des and 33 from Corey but to many low twenties on the board…".

20th Sept. 24 v Painters 'B' (A) Won 370-366

The Tatti's gained their first points of the new season with a four pins victory over Painters 'B' at the Richmond Club, 370-366.

Chasing a really good 98 opening leg by Painters, Berti made full use of his single pin opportunity by felling seven pins with his spare ball. Unfortunately though, the luck then ran out with the leg stuttering to a sub 90 as the Bottom half failed to reach 40.

Not to be deterred, new boy Eric 'The Red'  soon floored his first ever spare for Bogoes which helped the bottom half recover themselves with a 50. The top half gave the BH's a lesson in how to back up a good start. Captain Ali started it with a wonderful flopper in his 14 and Booby finished it with a well taken 15 spare. They added another 58 to the leg leaving Painters another 98 to stay in front.

Credit to Painters, they produced an excellent second leg ton to edge two pins ahead and backed it up with a sold 86.

In the third leg, Benny's 14 spare and a great 52 bottom half total pushed the total over the 90 mark and the call was 'same again' to keep the pressure on their opponents. However, the less said about the BH's finish the better!

As the game looked all but lost, Booby floored a late-late 14 spare to scrape their leg total into the 80's and leave Painters requiring 87 to win. Despite matching the Tatti's spare count in their final leg, they surprised everyone by falling 5 pins short. Funny Ol' game!

Congratulations to Eric, for achieving his first win & first spare.

Excellent win in the end in a game that could’ve gone either way. Painters opening leg of 98 really put us under but good spares by Rob, Ian, Eric, his first (of many) for team and the captain kept us in the game.

The home side responded with an excellent 2nd leg ton and aided by Benny’s 14 spare on the 3rd we found ourselves 3 up. Good last needed to leave painters a challenging total, well the least said about it the better, until Rob rescued the leg with a brilliant 14 to finish. With 87 to win it was always going to be in the balance but a 2 proved decisive which gave us a much needed win.

An excellent 40 by Ian ( yet again) but it was Rob who deserved to take the top score accolade with his brilliant total of 43

13th Sept. 24 v Woodpeckers (H) Lost 336-339

Friday 13th turned out to be very unlucky for the Tattis' as they lost their opening game of the new season against Woodpeckers by 3 pins, 336-339.

The less said about that performance the better.

Congratulations to Eric on his debut. It's a shame it wasn't a successful one for him but hey-ho, the Bogos' can put that right at the Richmond Club next week against Painters 'B'. Up the Tattis'.

Not the best start only good spares by Ian and cheese on the 2nd leg kept us in the game. But a disastrous 3rd should have been the end of the contest but woodpeckers surprisingly let us off and when returning for the last leg 88 was the target to win, a game frankly we didn’t deserve to.

A slow start made it difficult but Benny’s brilliant spare gave us hope. Unfortunately the top half couldn’t muster the 8’s to win, falling short by 3.

Early days and all that but 336 won’t win you many games and we should be getting the target that was set us. Well done woodpeckers and cheese for joint top scoring with 34"

26th April 24 v Dead Men Walking (Champ of Champs Final) Won 354-326

The Tatti's defeated Division 3 winners, Dead Men Walking, in the final of the Champions of Champions competition by 28 pins, 354-326.

The match panned out in similar fashion to the semi final two day earlier. Opting to bowl first Dead Men Walkings' sub 80 opening leg left the door wide open for the Tatti's to set the pace and, without pulling up any trees, they did exactly that.

Despite the lack of spares, they were 20 pins ahead at the half way point and when Vorni produced an absolute blinding 17 spare, the match was over as a contest and the side show of Berti v Booby in the averages became the focus of everyone's attention.

Berti had scored a massive 48 back on 16th February gaving him a commanding lead at the top of the average table. However, his form then suddenly dipped and during the last nine matches he failed to record a score in the 30's. In contrast, Booby has no such problem, scoring 30 or more on five occasions, he closed the gap to Berti to just a single pin by the time this game kicked off..

It was nip & tuck in this final too, with both narrowly missing good chances to fell spares. All square after three legs, Bertis' final 8 meant Booby had to get a 10 spare to complete his comeback & win the averages. With no luck on his first delivery the spare chance failed to arrive & Rob finished just 0.16 of a pin behind.

The Tattis' total of 354 meant Dead Men Walking needed 111 to win, game over!

So, the Bogoes ended another very successful season by completing the same treble as the previous one, the Division One title, the Front Pin cup & the Champion of Champions cup.

Individual awards:

  • Highest Average: Berti - 31.40
  • Highest Score: Ali - 51
  • Most Improved Player: Prycer +2.65
  • Front Pin Average: Berti - 32.00
  • Highest Front Pin Score: Berti & Booby - 39
  • Lowest Average: Benny - 27.82
  • Lowest Score: Cheeso - 19
  • Footy Champion: Ali - 51.4%

24th April 24 v Wranglers (Champ of Champs SF) Won 333-295

The Tatti's were in command of this Champion of Champions Semi-Final match from start to finish against Wranglers and ran out comfortable winners by 38 pins, 333-295

Two players stood out, Vorni & Benny, with both achieving a 13 spare in the opening leg that put the Bogoes in charge at 16 up & probably ended the match as a contest. Benny continued on to receive all the plaudits with the highest score on the board.

So, on to the final in two days time when the Tatts' will be going for their 14th Champion of Champions trophy against Division 4 winners Dead Men Walking.

Monday, 15 April 2024

12th April 24 v Painters 'B' (Front Pin Final) Won 224-188

The Tattis' shrugged off a disappointing defeat in the KO Cup final two days earlier to beat Painters 'B' by 36 pins in the final of the Front Pin Cup, 224-188.

Despite trailing by a couple of pins at the half way point, two excellent third & fourth legs in the 60's enabled them to successfully retain the Front Pin Cup they won last season & for the eighth time in their history.

Rob Weale starred with a fabulous total of 39, which could have easily been more had he taken the single pin spare chance on his final delivery. Turps & Berti played well too and, with only one duck on the board, it was overall a much improved team performance than their efforts in the semi-final.

The players have a few days of rest now in preparation for the Champion of Champions competition which commences on 24th April.

Up the Tattis'

10th April 24 v Evans SC (KO Cup Final) Lost 2-2 (287-319)

The Tatti's attempt to win the KO Cup for the fourth time was thwarted by an excellent Evans SC performance at the Richmond Club. They drew the match 2-2 but lost on total score 287-319.

A devastating opening leg of 90 by Evans SC put them in the driving seat and, although the response, a 65 leg by the Tatti's, appears poor in comparison the rules of this competition meant that they were always in with a chance.

Singles;
Booby fought back well & despite the lack of a spare he was on top form to win his singles match by 4 pins, 1-0.

Pairs;
Berti & Rusty, well, the less said the better, they were never in the game 1-1.

Triples;
Westy, Cheeso & Ali led their opposition from the start & were always in control. Captain Ali's spare gave them some breathing space to win by 8 pins, 2-1.

Fours;
Boundy, Turps, TK Maxx & Jonah faced an uphill battle when, after the opening leg, they found themselves trailing by 8 pins.
However, the Tatti's believed this was the match that would determine the end result and that turned out to be true.
The foursome fought back really well and, in the third leg the elusive spare opportunities finally arrived for them to turn the match around completely. Unfortunately though, on this occasion they failed to make them count but, they were now just two pins behind and well in contention.
So, moving on to the final leg, despite the overall scores showing the Tatti's trailing Evans' by 24 pins, the outcome was far from being determined and could go either way.
A repeat of the third leg by the Evans four would have probably made the Bogoes' favourites but, a late-late 11 spare by their last man added to their three other excellent efforts of 8,9,8 meaning Boundy, Turps, TK & Jonah would definitely require a spare to win.
With formalities above them out of the way, at 2-1 to the Tatti's, the stage was set for one of the four to grasp the limelight and become a hero but, despite their best efforts, it wasn't to be. Jonah was left with the final outside chance to claim glory by getting an 18 spare but sadly it wasn't to be. 2-2.

A long shot, yes of course it was, but the Tatti's had made a superb game of it when most teams would have crumbled after Evans opening leg of 90 (that's an average of a 10 spare for every player by the way!)

Congratulations to Evans SC on winning their tenth KO cup.

5th April 24 v The 'C'on Men (A) Won 343-331

Rested after the Easter break the Tatti players returned to their original home to defeat The 'C'on Men by twelve pins, 343-331, in their last league match of the season.

Berti got off to a flier by taking a single pin for a spare but his game went downhill after that, he just about managed to make use of his spare ball but then struggled for the rest of the evening.

There were a few good performances, notably from Booby, Boundy, TK Maxx & Vorni, but at the end Prycer stole the limelight with an excellent 14 spare & finished with the Bogoes' highest score of 34.

Well, with the warm-up game over with, they can now move on to capturing a few more pots for Ali's garden shed!

Have a word Vorni!

"A solid team performance with only 8 pins separating the highest and lowest scores in a well contested win against the Con men, who will probably be kicking themselves with the chances they missed to gain the two points. Good spares on a tough alley by Ian Dave and Liam helped us chalk up 4 80+ legs with miller taking the top score gong with 34.
Excellent season again with a few obstacles we had to get through from changing to a new set of pins at the start, changing alleys mid season, and a few health scares, but we’ve stood strong as a team yet again, absolutely brilliant lads.
On a sad note I’d like to pay our respect to Martin Oliver who has sadly passed away, the Hereford singles champion of 1995 & a good guy, RIP."

22nd March 24 v Woodentops (H) Won 357-313

A decent performance was rewarded by two more points as the Tatti's celebrated clinching their 16th Division 1 title with a 43 pins victory over Woodentops at the Military Club, 357-313

In the first leg, Vorni surprised himself by taking full advantage of a single pin opportunity to achieve a 13 spare which aided the bottom half pip the top by a couple of pins. It also enabled Stuee to chalk up a 90+leg.

With Woodentops already having been relegated, they didn't put up much of a fight, so when Captain Ali recorded the Tatti's second and last spare of the night, he also felled the winning pins with his first ball.

Easter break follows now & then, after their final league match at the Golden Lion against the 'C'on men, they can look forward to competing in the finals of the Front Pin cup, KO cup, Charity cup, and Champions of Champions. Not a bad season.

"Excellent team performance to beat the Woodentops who have had a poor season on their return to the top division (they’ll be back!!)
Brilliant 13 spare by Vorni on the first leg set us on our way with our best opening leg on our new home alley and our opponents never really put us under an pressure and with 4 solid legs we ran out comfortable winners.
Well played Steve top scoring with 37, also good performances by Liam 33 and Jonah 34.
One more league game to go which should be fun at the Golden Lion then it’s the fight for 4 more trophies, come on boys !!"

16th March 24 v Military 'D' (Charity Cup QF) Won 304-294

The Tatti's go through to the Charity Cup finals night by beating Military 'D' at the Military Club by 10 pins, 304-294.

An awful start by the top four meant they were trailing the D's throughout but, spares by Boundy, TK Maxx, and two from top scorer Booby enabled them to pinch the game with a superb final leg 69.

They can now look forward to trying to win their 16th Charity Cup on 13th April. The other teams in their way will be Spare Bears who beat Evans SC 278-270, the Ball Breakers Club, who overcame Woolfys' Pack 232-223, and the winners of Forlorn Hope v Mucking Fuddle (result not declared yet).

15th March 24 v Woodpeckers (A) Won 323-321

The Tatti's clinched the title with a narrow away win by 2 pins against Woodpeckers at the Hereford Bowling Club, 323-321

It's their fourth Division One Championship in succession and their 16th in total since they were promoted to the top league for season 1996/97.

The real Rob 'Booby' Weale showed up for this game and started by flooring eight pins on his opening go, yes, that is one more than his total for the entire front pin game just two days earlier. He continued in the same vain for the duration of this match to end the game with the teams highest score by a country mile, well 7 more than Captain Ali to be precise.

As the Tatti players celebrate, lets spare a thought for the unfortunate Cheeso, who put himself in prime position for the wooden spoon award.

"Following on from Wednesday and the injury list continued to be a worry which meant Cheese had to play with Griff on the sidelines protecting his average, sorry I meant achilles, in what is always a difficult place to go against a good Woodpecker’s side and he would have been cursing this as he started with a very unlucky duck in an poor opening first leg that left 13 down.
But, like the team, Cheese rallied and thanks to Fafs excellent 38, including a second leg 12 spare that kept us in the game, we set the home a challenging 82 to win.
In what was a very tense finish, we somehow managed to nick the two points, a victory that secured the league title!!
Excellent effort boys, we can now enjoy the rest of the season".

13th March 24 v Beevers (Front Pin S. Final) Won 189-186

WTF! As a team, the Tatti's performance was bloody awful. They suffered their lowest ever Front Pin score and yet somehow they find themselves going through to the final, beating Beevers by three pins, 189-186.

On a positive note, Rusty was on fire to achieve his second best score ever, just one pin short of his highest (he scored 36 at the Welsh Club just over ten years ago) and Berti supported him well with a solid 30.

As for the rest, well they managed to achieve nine ducks between them to equal another Tatti record.

I can't sign off without mentioning Boobys' late 3 spare, it ended up being the difference between the two sides, thank god for that!

8th March 24 v Buccaneers (H) Won 370-348

A good win at home by 22 pins against Buccaneers, 370-348, takes the Tatti's to a position where they are six points clear at the top with only three matches to play.

After his sweep winning total last Wednesday, TK Maxx continued his return to form with an excellent brace of spares to end up on 40. However, Stuee prevented TK from achieving back-to-back top scores by pipping him by a single pin with 41 thanks to a marvellous 16 spare in the second leg.

The Bogoes can now look forward to clinching the Division One title next Friday when the travel to the Bowling Club to take on Woodpeckers.  Up the Tatti's!

"Good team performance to gain two more points and maintain our advantage at the top. Crucial spares on the second and third legs set us up nicely and although our opponents out spared us 6-5 solid skittling meant we ran out comfortably winners (no dramas like the past couple of weeks !!)

TK excelled with two good spares in his 40 but it was Griff who stole the top score accolade with 41 thanks to an excellent 16 spare"

6th March 24 v Lost Heads (KO Cup SF) Won 3-1 (293-279)

The Tatti's progressed through to the final of the KO Cup following a 3-1 victory over Lost Heads at the Welsh Club.

Booby set them on their way with an excellent spare right from the off & he backed it up with some very good deliveries to overcome his opponent by 4 pins.

Following an unlucky 4 on his opening go, TK Maxx received the benefit of some expert advice on where to stand from Boundy. The improvement was miraculous. He surged back with a great eight sandwiched between a brace of spares to steal the limelight away from Booby and claimed the Tatti's top score on the night.

It was welcome return to form for TK after his tough start to 2024.
