24th November 23 v Evans SC (H) Lost 357-358

The Tatti's lose for the first time this season, by a single pin, at home to Evans SC, 357-358

Despite a huge effort in the final leg, the Bogoes' poor opening leg of just 80 pins cost them. It was their lowest 1st leg of the season so far.

Vorni redeemed himself, after suffering an awful 3, with two good spares, the second of which gave the Tatti's hope of victory. This was backed up with a run of solid 7's & 8's until Berti weighed in with a flopper 14 spare giving Booby an opportunity to complete the perfect comeback.

However, requiring an 8 for a victory, which seemed unlikely at the outset of the leg, he suffered punches with his first two balls. Three more pins were needed from the four that remained standing but, just as quickly as the chance for victory arrived, it had ended when Boobys' final ball felled only a solitary pin.

Although disappointed to lose their first league match of the season the Tatti's can take many positives from a fantastic final leg effort, so, so close.

"Fantastic game between two top sides !! We were out spared by 7 to 3 which was probably the deciding factor on which way the result went !! Left 104 to win it was a brilliant effort aided by spares from Vorni and the returning Ian, who top scored with 38, but unluckily it wasn’t to be as we fell short to lose the game by 1. Well played to Evans ( you could say the postmen delivered!!)"

Evans SC Captains' comment:

"Firstly, thank you to Mr Yeld for electing to stand down for me. I hope I repaid the faith. After Tatts let us in with an unusually low 80 on their first leg, we put in a rather mediocre first leg 75 of our own. Not through want of trying and we didn’t have much luck in that leg. 3 single pin spares followed in leg 2, however, to leave Tatts 92 to level. They came back as we knew they would with 88 and 87 to leave us 83 to level. It started well enough with a 13 from the captain and was saved by a lovely 14 from Stu to get us up to 88, and a lead of 5. Stu again rose to the challenge with a phenomenal 16 spare en route to a 98 last leg. That left Tatts 104 to win. It’s never over with the Tatts and they almost conjured up the points after a flopper 2nd last from the ever reliable Ian Collins. His 14 left Mr Weale 8 to win. Luckily for us he only mustered a 6- to ensure we won by a solitary pin and ended our dismal league run of defeats. It also brought an end the Tatts sensational unbeaten start to the season. Fantastic contest. Well done all. Hopefully that will kick start a little run to get some league respectability. "

22nd November 23 v Woodentops (KO Rnd 2) Won 3-1

The Tatti's are safely through to the 3rd round of the KO cup after a good 3-1 win over Woodentops at the Vaga Tavern.

Captain Ali was pleased with the efforts of his team mates, and in turn, they were all blown away by his own personal performance. A hat-trick of fifteen spares in succession surged his total into the 50's for the third time in his Tattibogoes career. The other two occasions were achieved at the Plough Inn (9,16,18,9=52) against Richmond Lions on 7th Feb 2014 and at the Snooker Centre No.1 (8,17,8,17=50) versus Harrys' Lads on 13th Jan 2023.
An interesting stat....
Ali has played in all 141 KO and Man v Man cup matches that the Bogoes have competed in since they formed in August 1991.

17th November v Harry's Lads (A) Drew 327-327

After being knocked out of the Man v Man cup last Wednesday, the Tatti's faced a very tough away game against Harry's Lads at the Railway Club and they came away with a valuable point after drawing 327-327.

With Berti still unfit, Prycer took the opportunity to increase his lead at the top of the averages table with another excellent effort of 36. His 15 spare not only rescued what would have been a poor opening leg but it edged the Bogoes ahead by a single pin.

Credit must go to Benny for a superb performance. He left everyone chasing him on the night with 38, the highest individual total on the board. Well done, we salute you!

Sorry, I almost failed to mention that the bottom half wiped the floor with the top half to achieve their first 4-0 whitewash of the season.

"Could have won but should have lost !! Settle for a point in what was a hard fought game against Harry’s lads which could have gone either way. Spares on that alley are at a premium but thanks to Dave’s remarkable run of form we somehow found ourselves 1 up on the the first thanks to his brilliant 15. Only one more spare was to follow and Benny’s excellent 14 on the last leg gave us a chance to take both points but in the end a draw was a fair result. Excellent 36 by Dave but Benny stole the show with a fantastic total of 38. Another good team performance!!"

15th November v Lost Heads (Man v Man R2) Lost 4-6 (273-275)

The Tatti's 100% start to the season was ended in their first cup match, against Lost Heads in round 2 of the Man v Man competition, by a margin if 4-6 (273-275).

I don't have very much to say about that performance, mainly because I wasn't there, but well done Lost Heads and the best of luck to you in the next round.

10th November v Lost Heads (H) Won 386-353

Another excellent victory to make it nine from nine, this time by 33 pins at home at the Q. Club against newly promoted Lost Heads, 386-353.

The last time the two teams met each other in the league was more than thirty years ago, on 27th November 1992 (H) and 15th Jan 1993 (A), when both teams played their home games at the Barrels. The only other occasion was in a Man v Man round 2 cup match on 12th September at the Whitecross Tennis Club.

The Tatt's were victorious in all three matches and kept their perfect record going in this latest fixture too. Now, that's not to say that it was an easy game, far from it, Lost Heads performed well, in fact their total of 353 is the highest that the Bogoes have faced by an away team this season & if they hadn't suffered a poor third leg, the result would have hung in the balance when the Tatti's started the final leg.

Well done Stuee Griff.

Playing with his favourite pins ever is certainly paying dividends as, with a brace of spares, he topped scored with 43. Berti left his challenge very late but, despite a huge 17 to finish on 42, his nose was pipped on the line. Credit also to Jonah (41) & Rusty (40) who joined the 40 club settling for 3rd & 4th place respectively. A few furlongs behind was Pryce on 33, his 8th spare of the season was sufficient to keep him riding high at the top of the Averages table for another week.

What a coincidence, the next game up is Lost Heads in the Man v Man Cup round 2 on Wednesday 15th November. One thing for sure, the result will not be same as last time 9-3 to the Tatti's.

"Good win against newly promoted lost Heads. Game was close and well in the balance but our number of spares on the 2nd and 3rd legs along with the opposition below par 3rd leg 78 turned the game in our favour. Some excellent skittling and some big scores, 4 in the 40’s, Jonah, Russ D and Ian(again !!) but it was birthday boy Griff who stole the show with a brace of spares in his 43. Well done boys !!"

3rd November v Fire Brigade (A) Won 372-342

The Tatti's stretched their lead at the top of the championship with a convincing 30 pins away win against Fire Bridage, 372-342.

First things first, congratulations to Craig 'Westy, Neville, Ives, for playing his 1,000 competitive match. He joins Captain Ali & Berti in the Tattibogoes thousand club.

Back to the game now, Prycer is in a rich vein of form at present and, with a brace of spares in this game, achieving back to back 40+'s, he's finds himself sitting pretty at the top of the Bogoes averages table.

Cheeso was probably kicking himself all the way back to the Beer in Hand after missing out on a 40 total with a poor 4 in the final leg. Ne'r mind, his score pleased Vorni who, following some dire efforts, can but only dream of the days when he scored 39.

All in all, another great team performance and two more points bagged towards the title defence.

Captain's comment:

"Excellent win against the dangerous Fire Brigade. Big spares by the two Russ’s set us up to take control of the game but it was Dave’s finish of back to back spares that really nailed it. Brilliant 39 by cheese but it was Dave who topped scored with yet another excellent 40+ score. Congratulations to Craig who competed in his 1000th for the Tatti’s, only the third player to do this with this game also marking the 1100th game for the team for Ian. Well done boys !!"
