8th December 23 v Beevers (H) Lost 349-361

Another defeat at home, this time inflicted by Beevers who came back from 12 pins behind at half way to win by 12 pins at the end, 349-361.

Jonah starred for the Tatti's with an excellent 36 with a 12 spare but there's little more to be said apart from, the Bogoes remain at the top of the table albeit, they now share that position with Harry's Lads.

The festive break has probably come at a good time, Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year all.

"Good game but yet again another defeat!!

Excellent final two legs by beevers left us what proved to be too many to get. Jonah topped scored with a good 36 but too many players scoring in the 20’s proved costly.

Much needed winter break, we come back stronger in the new year !!

Merry Christmas and a happy new year to everyone "

1st December 23 v Military 'D' (A) Lost 348-372

"Spares wins games" is the mantra often said at skittles and, it was true for this match as it was for their previous weeks' loss to Evans SC. The Tatti's are currently experiencing a spare drought at present and suffered a resounding 24 pins thrashing by Military 'D', 348-372.

That said, we take nothing away from the D's performance which was excellent. Their lowest player's score was 26 and their lowest individual score was a 5 (just four times) so, hats off, they well deserved their victory.

The Bogoes can take some positives out of the game, with their lowest individual effort also being a 5 (five times) and an excellent third leg of 93 without a spare. Perhaps, if they'd taken the spare opportunities that came their way (as they usually do), that leg would have surged well past the 100 mark and been the catalyst to a comeback effort.

Never mind, it wasn't to be. The Tatti's remain standing tall, clear at the top of the league by a couple of points, and would certainly have taken this position if they'd been offered it at the start of the season. They look forward to next week, when they take on last seasons title challengers, the Beevers.

Well done to Captain Ali, who managed to achieve his teams solitary spare with a well taken single pin and ended up as top scorer.

Hey wait, where the hell is Booby?

"The omens weren’t great from the off, Shaun and Earl grinded out two frames in an Hour and 40 minutes in the icebox, don’t know of any Eskimos that are snooker players, Cheese forgot his phone so he had to borrow Benny’s to make the obligatory post from the Beer in Hand and Boundy travelled all the way back from his vacation giving up his evening when he could’ve spent it in the spa with a Jack Daniel’s and coke (bet he wished he’d have stayed in his speedos !!) Fred west donned his new pumps, not sure where he dug them up from, and Dick Turpin displayed what will be his new daps for rest of the season and again I’m not sure who he robbed them off! Least said about the game the better, but well played military D, we must improve boys"

29th November 23 v The 'C'on Men (Front Pin Rnd 2) Won 247-185

A decent performance by the Tatti's enabled them to ease through to the next round of the Front Pin cup, beating The 'C'on Men by 62 pins at the Q. Club, 247-185

Berti was quick off the mark with a flopper 17 and ended the evening with the top score of 39. Credit also to Stuee Griff & Benny who joined Berti in the 30's with some fine bowling. The defence of their title rolls on to the next round.

24th November 23 v Evans SC (H) Lost 357-358

The Tatti's lose for the first time this season, by a single pin, at home to Evans SC, 357-358

Despite a huge effort in the final leg, the Bogoes' poor opening leg of just 80 pins cost them. It was their lowest 1st leg of the season so far.

Vorni redeemed himself, after suffering an awful 3, with two good spares, the second of which gave the Tatti's hope of victory. This was backed up with a run of solid 7's & 8's until Berti weighed in with a flopper 14 spare giving Booby an opportunity to complete the perfect comeback.

However, requiring an 8 for a victory, which seemed unlikely at the outset of the leg, he suffered punches with his first two balls. Three more pins were needed from the four that remained standing but, just as quickly as the chance for victory arrived, it had ended when Boobys' final ball felled only a solitary pin.

Although disappointed to lose their first league match of the season the Tatti's can take many positives from a fantastic final leg effort, so, so close.

"Fantastic game between two top sides !! We were out spared by 7 to 3 which was probably the deciding factor on which way the result went !! Left 104 to win it was a brilliant effort aided by spares from Vorni and the returning Ian, who top scored with 38, but unluckily it wasn’t to be as we fell short to lose the game by 1. Well played to Evans ( you could say the postmen delivered!!)"

Evans SC Captains' comment:

"Firstly, thank you to Mr Yeld for electing to stand down for me. I hope I repaid the faith. After Tatts let us in with an unusually low 80 on their first leg, we put in a rather mediocre first leg 75 of our own. Not through want of trying and we didn’t have much luck in that leg. 3 single pin spares followed in leg 2, however, to leave Tatts 92 to level. They came back as we knew they would with 88 and 87 to leave us 83 to level. It started well enough with a 13 from the captain and was saved by a lovely 14 from Stu to get us up to 88, and a lead of 5. Stu again rose to the challenge with a phenomenal 16 spare en route to a 98 last leg. That left Tatts 104 to win. It’s never over with the Tatts and they almost conjured up the points after a flopper 2nd last from the ever reliable Ian Collins. His 14 left Mr Weale 8 to win. Luckily for us he only mustered a 6- to ensure we won by a solitary pin and ended our dismal league run of defeats. It also brought an end the Tatts sensational unbeaten start to the season. Fantastic contest. Well done all. Hopefully that will kick start a little run to get some league respectability. "

22nd November 23 v Woodentops (KO Rnd 2) Won 3-1

The Tatti's are safely through to the 3rd round of the KO cup after a good 3-1 win over Woodentops at the Vaga Tavern.

Captain Ali was pleased with the efforts of his team mates, and in turn, they were all blown away by his own personal performance. A hat-trick of fifteen spares in succession surged his total into the 50's for the third time in his Tattibogoes career. The other two occasions were achieved at the Plough Inn (9,16,18,9=52) against Richmond Lions on 7th Feb 2014 and at the Snooker Centre No.1 (8,17,8,17=50) versus Harrys' Lads on 13th Jan 2023.
An interesting stat....
Ali has played in all 141 KO and Man v Man cup matches that the Bogoes have competed in since they formed in August 1991.

17th November v Harry's Lads (A) Drew 327-327

After being knocked out of the Man v Man cup last Wednesday, the Tatti's faced a very tough away game against Harry's Lads at the Railway Club and they came away with a valuable point after drawing 327-327.

With Berti still unfit, Prycer took the opportunity to increase his lead at the top of the averages table with another excellent effort of 36. His 15 spare not only rescued what would have been a poor opening leg but it edged the Bogoes ahead by a single pin.

Credit must go to Benny for a superb performance. He left everyone chasing him on the night with 38, the highest individual total on the board. Well done, we salute you!

Sorry, I almost failed to mention that the bottom half wiped the floor with the top half to achieve their first 4-0 whitewash of the season.

"Could have won but should have lost !! Settle for a point in what was a hard fought game against Harry’s lads which could have gone either way. Spares on that alley are at a premium but thanks to Dave’s remarkable run of form we somehow found ourselves 1 up on the the first thanks to his brilliant 15. Only one more spare was to follow and Benny’s excellent 14 on the last leg gave us a chance to take both points but in the end a draw was a fair result. Excellent 36 by Dave but Benny stole the show with a fantastic total of 38. Another good team performance!!"

15th November v Lost Heads (Man v Man R2) Lost 4-6 (273-275)

The Tatti's 100% start to the season was ended in their first cup match, against Lost Heads in round 2 of the Man v Man competition, by a margin if 4-6 (273-275).

I don't have very much to say about that performance, mainly because I wasn't there, but well done Lost Heads and the best of luck to you in the next round.

10th November v Lost Heads (H) Won 386-353

Another excellent victory to make it nine from nine, this time by 33 pins at home at the Q. Club against newly promoted Lost Heads, 386-353.

The last time the two teams met each other in the league was more than thirty years ago, on 27th November 1992 (H) and 15th Jan 1993 (A), when both teams played their home games at the Barrels. The only other occasion was in a Man v Man round 2 cup match on 12th September at the Whitecross Tennis Club.

The Tatt's were victorious in all three matches and kept their perfect record going in this latest fixture too. Now, that's not to say that it was an easy game, far from it, Lost Heads performed well, in fact their total of 353 is the highest that the Bogoes have faced by an away team this season & if they hadn't suffered a poor third leg, the result would have hung in the balance when the Tatti's started the final leg.

Well done Stuee Griff.

Playing with his favourite pins ever is certainly paying dividends as, with a brace of spares, he topped scored with 43. Berti left his challenge very late but, despite a huge 17 to finish on 42, his nose was pipped on the line. Credit also to Jonah (41) & Rusty (40) who joined the 40 club settling for 3rd & 4th place respectively. A few furlongs behind was Pryce on 33, his 8th spare of the season was sufficient to keep him riding high at the top of the Averages table for another week.

What a coincidence, the next game up is Lost Heads in the Man v Man Cup round 2 on Wednesday 15th November. One thing for sure, the result will not be same as last time 9-3 to the Tatti's.

"Good win against newly promoted lost Heads. Game was close and well in the balance but our number of spares on the 2nd and 3rd legs along with the opposition below par 3rd leg 78 turned the game in our favour. Some excellent skittling and some big scores, 4 in the 40’s, Jonah, Russ D and Ian(again !!) but it was birthday boy Griff who stole the show with a brace of spares in his 43. Well done boys !!"

3rd November v Fire Brigade (A) Won 372-342

The Tatti's stretched their lead at the top of the championship with a convincing 30 pins away win against Fire Bridage, 372-342.

First things first, congratulations to Craig 'Westy, Neville, Ives, for playing his 1,000 competitive match. He joins Captain Ali & Berti in the Tattibogoes thousand club.

Back to the game now, Prycer is in a rich vein of form at present and, with a brace of spares in this game, achieving back to back 40+'s, he's finds himself sitting pretty at the top of the Bogoes averages table.

Cheeso was probably kicking himself all the way back to the Beer in Hand after missing out on a 40 total with a poor 4 in the final leg. Ne'r mind, his score pleased Vorni who, following some dire efforts, can but only dream of the days when he scored 39.

All in all, another great team performance and two more points bagged towards the title defence.

Captain's comment:

"Excellent win against the dangerous Fire Brigade. Big spares by the two Russ’s set us up to take control of the game but it was Dave’s finish of back to back spares that really nailed it. Brilliant 39 by cheese but it was Dave who topped scored with yet another excellent 40+ score. Congratulations to Craig who competed in his 1000th for the Tatti’s, only the third player to do this with this game also marking the 1100th game for the team for Ian. Well done boys !!"

27th October v FJ Lions (H) Won 359-345

The Tatti's maintained their 100% start to the season with a 14 pins victory over their stable mates FJ Lions, 359-345

New in at No.1 this week was Booby Weale. He outshined everyone with a brace of spares and finished with an excellent 44 total, the Tatti's highest score of the season so far. Not too far behind was anchor man Prycer, his 41 included a magical 17 spare that probably turned the game in the 'Bogoes favour before Lions had started bowling.

Captains Comment:
"Excellent start by Faf(13) but what followed was pretty woeful for us, until Dave rescued the leg with a superb 17 to finish. Thanks to those two we somehow chalked up 91 and lions stayed with us but their poor second leg gave us the impetus to take control of the game and with Ian’s 13 we had a lead of 20 after two legs which proved decisive.
Left 72 to win we made hard work of it with last man Faf still needing 2 for the victory but he finished with another well taken spare to take the top score accolade with 44 just pipping Dave who scored a brilliant 41"

Saturday, 21 October 2023

20th October 23 v Painters 'B' (A) Won 378-328

The Tatti's maintained their excellent start to the season with a huge victory over Painters 'B' by 50 pins, 378-328.

TK Maxx starred with a superb 42, thanks to a brace of spares, the first one coming from a brilliant second ball delivery. It was a welcome return to form for Liam who, as it happens, top scored with 39 in the same fixture last season, and long may it continue.

Captain's comment:

"Painters poor first leg allowed us to take control and we did just that and with a 15 spare in each of the first 3 legs by Liam, Faf and Griff it set us up for what was a comfortable win in the end. With 3 more spares on the last leg by Jonah, Liam and Craig we chalked up another excellent performance of 4 90+ legs. Top score went to TK who with 42 excelled to Maxx !!"

Saturday, 14 October 2023

13th October 23 v Wellies (H) Won 358-329

Friday 13th may be unlucky for some but not for the Tattibogoes who beat Wellies by a comfortable margin of 32 pins at home, 358-326.

A welcome return to form by Boundy who, standing tall in the bottom half, took advantage of a great spare opportunity in the opening leg to start with an 11. The was soon backed up by Prycer with a superb 13 spare which closed out a match winning ton leg.

With spare opportunities at a premium, the pair battled it out for the accolade of top score and in the end Prycer just pipping Boundy by a couple of pins. Five from five they look forward to next weeks' trip to  Captain Ali's former team Painters B.

Captain's comment: "Good win!! Only 2 spares on the night both on the first leg by Boundy and Dave but that set up an excellent opening leg of 100 which meant the wellies were always chasing but never really put us under pressure and we ran out comfortable winners. Well done Dave top scoring with a good 36, overall solid team performance"

Saturday, 7 October 2023

6th October v Buccaneers (A) Won 387-341

The Tatti's maintained their 100% start to the season with an excellent performance against Buccaneers at the Lads Club, the Bogoes winning by 46 pins, 387-341.

As he did in this fixture, Rusty got the team off to a flier with a great 15 spare. What followed was a game of two halves, top half could do no wrong whilst the bottom half struggled to get going. Prycer & Holly did their best to stay in touch with the top half with a couple of decent spares, but with Cheeso & Captain Ali on fire with 17 & 18 spares respectively, the top half completed another 4-0 white-wash.

Cheeso's pre-match 'all-you-can eat' Chinese feast served him very well as he scored a superb 41 but, Ali, with one more pin on the last leg, pipped him to top dog on the night & joins Berti with the Tatti's highest score of the season so far (42).

Just for the hell of it, and because Ali & Cheeso are one step apart, here's an old photo taken on this Lads Club alley many moons ago...

Captain's comment: "Best performance so far, four 90+ legs, aided by some big spares helped us to gain a comfortable win on our old alley. Excellent 41 by Cheese, but he was pipped to the highest score accolade by the captain who with 42 finally pulled his finger out !!! Well done boys"

Saturday, 30 September 2023

29th Sept. v Woodpeckers (H) Won 364-329

The Tatti's made it three wins from three games with a resounding victory, by 35 pins, over Woodpeckers at their Q Club home, 364-329.

Captain's comment:

"Another good win against unbeaten woodpeckers. Closer game than the score line suggests it turned in our favour with four spares in the space of six goes from cheese, Rob, Ian and Russ. Ian topped scored with a yet another 40 odd, brilliant, he must be the most prolific scorer of 40 or more in the history of Hereford skittles, just the 112 times, incredible!!"
Congratulations to captain Ali for competing in his 1,100th match for the Tattibogoes.

Sunday, 24 September 2023

22nd Sept. v Woodentops (A) Won 336-319

A decent performance at the Barrels brought the Tatti's two more points with victory over Woodentops by 17 pins, 336-319.

Captain's comment:
"Excellent win !! Always a tough fixture to get the two points, ultimately the game turned in our favour in the space of couple of goes with Dave(16) and Stuee(17) flooring excellent spares. Brilliant team performance again and well done Griff, top scoring with 35"

It was the 30th meeting between the two teams. Their first match was way back on 1st November 1991 when both teams battled it out at the Golden Lion in Division Six. The Bogoes won by 27 pins in that game, 330-303, and their highest individual score was 35, by Richie Goodman, who now plays for Phoenix Nights.

Four Tattibogoes' players have played in both games, Ian Collins, Stuart Griffiths, Craig Stephens & Steve Vaughan.

Monday, 18 September 2023

15th Sept 23 v The 'C'on Men (H) Won 359-331

Using their new pins for the first time, the Tatti's got off to a winning start, at their Q Club home, by defeating The 'C'on Men by 28 pins, 359-331.

Captain's comment:

"Winning start !! The score line doesn’t reflect what was a hard fought victory against newly promoted The’C’on men. Good spares by Craig,Dave and both Phil’s helped seal the 2 points with Dutchy claiming the highest score with an excellent 36"

The new pins, supplied by Stephen Vaughan

Saturday, 29 April 2023

28th April 2023 v The Generals )Champion of Champions Final) Won 388-346

A successful 2022-23 Season ended on a high with a 42 pins victory over The Generals in the Champion of Champions final at the Richmond Club, 388-346.

Thursday, 27 April 2023

26th April 23 v Richmond Lads (Champion of Champions S. Final) Won 370-305

Another victory by a huge margin saw the Tatti's through to another Champion of Champions final. They beat Division Three winners Richmond Lads by 65 pins, 370-305.

The stand out performances by Jonah (36), Benny (39), TK Max (40) & Boundy who topped them all with a superb 41.

The Bogoes now look forward to the final in two days time at the Richmond Club against Division Four winners The Generals. Looking back, it's a repeat of their first game ever, a Division Six match on 21st August 1991 at the Golden Lion, the Tatti's won that evening 317-240.

14th April 23 v Barton (Front Pin Final) Won 226-158

The Tatti's claimed their seventh Front Pin cup with a convincing win in the final over Barton, 226-158

Cheeso's 17 spare in the first leg probably ended the match as a contest after just 5 goes and after that it was plain sailing to the finish.

Saturday, 8 April 2023

7th April 23 v Beevers (Div.1 Title Play-off) Won 356-351

The Tattibogoes claimed their 15th Division One championship with a five pins victory over Beevers at the Military Club, 356-351.

Rusty stole the limelight with his third score in the 40's in less than a month thanks to a wonderful 17 spare to kick off their opening ton leg. As a coincidence it was the Tatti's fifteenth 40+ score in another successful league campaign.

With the main trophy in the bag the Bogoes now look forward to the Front Pin Final at the Richmond Club next Friday where they will play against relegated Barton.

In the meantime, congratulations to Herefords' most successful Captain..........

Friday, 7 April 2023

31st March 23 v Fire Brigade (A) Won 356-333

The Tatti's comfortably won their final league fixture away against Fire Brigade by 23 pins, 356-333, to take the championship title to a play-off game with Beevers.

Captain Ali's comment:

"With so much at stake for both sides this was always going to be a tense affair. Ultimately it seemed to be settled by two excellent big spares by Rob and Jonah and Fire Brigades' poor second leg of 74! Two average legs to finish just about left them too much to do and we ran out comfortably winners in the end. Well done to Jonah for top scoring with a 'Vorni' !

Good luck to our stablemates in their play off to stay in the top league "

Saturday, 25 March 2023

24th March 23 v Richmond Painters (H) Won 427-313

The Tatti's were on fire for their final home match of the season beating Richmond Painters by a massive 114 pins, 427-313

Captain's Alis' comment:

Exceptional team performance just when it was needed. Lost count of the number of floppers but a big shout out to Stuee Griff for his brilliant double flopper 21, the first time he's achieved this marvellous feat!!

Some big scores but the accolade of top score once again goes to Russ D.

Well done boys"

Tuesday, 21 March 2023

17th March 23 v Livin on a Spare (A) Lost 328-352

It was another very disappointing performance at the Richmond Club where the Tatti's suffered another defeat against a relegation threatened team. This time it was at the hands of Living on a Spare losing by 25 pins, 328-353.

Only four efforts scoring more than 7 by the half way point resulted in the game being over as contest.  With only three players finishing in the thirties it's probably their worst performance for a very long time.

Never mind, with two games to go, they're still joint top of the table with Beevers

Tatti's - Richmond Painters (H) & Fire Brigade (A)
Beevers - Wellies (H) & Wranglers (A)

Thursday, 16 March 2023

15th March 23 v Evans SC (Front Pin Semi-Final) Won 250-219

The Tattibogoes are through to the Front Pin final after a close fought battle with Evans SC, winning by 31 pins, 250-219

The scoreline hides the true nature of the match which started with the Bogoes taking a12 pins lead after the opening legs. Following it up with a decent 60 the Bogoes felt they were in command having left Evans 72 to level. but, two good 66's later the outcome of the match was in the balance.

Requiring another 60 to draw level the third leg didn't start to well as the top 3 could only muster up 13 pins between them. That's when it suddenly changed. Captain Ali dug deep to floor a brilliant spare, Cheeso backed him up by clearing the frame & Benny also weighed in with a spare of his own.

Happy to be 7 ahead after three legs, the Tatti's were cop-a hoop when their top three finished with a floorish. Boundy kicked of the late surge with a wonderful flopper and was very unfortunate not to make it a double with his second ball leaving just one pin standing. Then Berti followed up with a spare of his own before Rusty almost cleared the frame.

The 41 pins haul from these three players left Evans needing a huge 79 to win. It was a target they fell way short of in the end making the result appear far more convincing that it really was. In truth, it was a fantastic match more befitting of a final.

10th March 23 v Woodpeckers (H) Won 355-320

The Tatti's were fortunate not to be well behind after a pretty ropey first leg as their opponents Woodpeckers started much worse. In the end they ran out comfortable winners by 35 pins, 355-320.

Rusty was star man with an excellent 40 containing a 18 spare and Boundys' good form continues as he joined Booby & Westy with 36. Cheeso & TK Maxx played well too however, the others all need to improve for the remaining few matches of the season.

Wednesday, 8 March 2023

3rd March 23 v Richmond Lions (A) Lost 339-373

The Tatti's suffered their fourth defeat of the season away against relegation threatened Richmond Lions, by 34 pins, 339-373.

The match was subsequently perfectly summed up by Captain Ali's comments:

"Poor, very poor performance, bemoan luck but that was the worst performance of the season. Big improvement needed next week and for the remaining games.

Well done to the lions you gave us an absolute tonking!!

Well played Russ D top scoring with our only spare of the night on our very last go !!"

Fortunately, their only title challengers, Beevers, also lost on the night so it's a case of  'as you were' with four games to play.

Friday, 3 March 2023

24th February 23 v Wranglers (H) Won 371-308

The Tatti's accrued two more points in their quest to retain the championship title with a home victory over Wranglers, 371-308.

With their opposition unable to field a full team the result was never going to be in doubt however, the Bogoes produced a very good performance and a score that would probably have been good enough to win against a full strength Wranglers.

For the second game in succession Boundy starred with a brace of spares in an excellent 42 total that sees him leapfrog over Vorni into second place in the Tatti's averages table. If his current form continues at this level, who cares where he stands, he'll be aiming for a hat-trick when they play the Lions next week.
