16th December v Evans SC (H) Won 375-345

A cracking 30 pins home win by the Tatti's over their fellow title chasers Evans SC, 375-345.

Spares from Berti, Stuee, Ali and a brace by Liam who stole the show with a brilliant 18 backed up with a superb 17 and went on to join the Bogoes 50 club.

Liam joins fellow members Ali, Berti, Stuee, Prycer, Westy & Booby who has also achieved a 65.

Question; out of these seven players, who was the youngest to score 50 or more?

9th December v Harry's Lads (A) Won 329-319

The Tatti's gained two more valuable points at the Railway club against Harry's Lads with a very good performance on a tough alley. They won by 10 pins, 329-319.

Despite being a player short, Harry's Lads achieved their highest score at home this season which proves two things; The quality of the skittling by the Bogoes was excellent and 20 pins for AN Other is not a disadvantage on this alley.

3rd December v Military 'D' (Home) Won 368-356

The Tatti's remain in touching distance to the leagues' current pace setters, Beevers, with a well fought 12 pins victory over Military 'D' at home, 368-356.

Westy's opening leg 13 spare was soon undone by the bottom half's hat-trick of fours and a wasted spare to hand the initiative to Military 'D' who duly raced into a 15 pins lead with a very good 101.

When the Bogoes returned they found themselves 100 behind and chasing spares. Despite playing well, their second leg and the majority of the third was devoid of any chances until Jonah stepped up with a brilliant flopper. It came completely out of the blue so when Stuee chalked up his 17 spare it felt like a turning point had arrived.

That said, nobody expected Military 'D' to chuck in a sub 80 leg so it was a pleasant surprise to find out that 89 was the target to win.

The bottom half made up for their poor first leg by finishing with 58, as Stuee finally made his spare ball count and Holly excelled with a superb 17 of his own. The top half took the leg on to a ton and two more valuable points were in the bag.

Well done to Phil Holland for achieving a Vorni.

Finally, congratulations to Cheeso and Jonah for reaching the milestone on 800 competitive matches for the Tattibogoes.

30th November v Bridgemen (Front Pin Rnd 2) Won 202-177

Not the best performance by any stretch but, it was sufficient for the Tatti's progress through to round 3 of the Front Pin cup. On a freshly painted, shiny alley, they defeated Bridgemen by 25 pins, 202-177.

18th November v Buccaneers (A) Won 373-364

The Tatti's gained two more points on the road with a good 9 pins win at the Lads Club versus Buccaneers, 373-364.

Rusty flew out of the blocks with a sublime 17 spare, the highest of the night, and Prycer wasn't sluggish either helping himself to a brace of spares to finish on a Vorni.

Talking of Vorni, he ended the game like Prycer had started, with a couple of excellent spares to accepted the plaudits with a fabulous sweep winning total of 45, the Tatti's best of the season so far.

Two back-to-back 40's for the first time in his Bogoes career sees Vorni rise up to the top of the averages on 33.00.

Monday, 14 November 2022

11th November v Beevers (H) Won 419-361

The Tatti's welcomed the league leaders to their former home & promtly spanked them, for the audacity to leave the Snooker Centre, with a superb 400+ performance. Bogoes won 419-361 to end Beevers 100% record.

Prycer is captured celebrating with the 40 club deep into the early hours of Saturday.

4th November v Barton (A) Won 325-292

Despite the lack of a spare, or even a chance of a spare, the Tatti's put in a solid performance to beat Barton at the Lads Club by a whopping 33 pins, 325-292

Just three players made it into the 30's, Berti, Westy & Turps who was top scorer on the night.

The match started with a spare by Barton's R Jones and 83 goes later it ended with the second spare by the same player who duly missed with his last ball.

28th October v Wellies (H) Won 363-336

Three solid 90+ legs was enough to see off the challenge from Wellies at the Snooker Centre with the Tatti's winning by 27 pins, 363-336

During an evening when Turps celebrated a centenary of appearances for the Bogoes, Rusty started proceedings with a flopper 14 spare, Westy made the game look effortless (well, for three legs anyway) and Stuee Griff found some to form at last to record the highest score of the night.

During the final leg, Benny delivered a fabulous second ball to clear the frame and Vorni capped off a fine performance by felling the winning pins. Two more points in the bag, roll on to next week against Barton at the Lads Club & Hereford FC v Portsmouth in the FA cup on BBC TV.

Up the Tatti's

21st October v Wranglers (A) Won 329-307

The Tatti's beat Wranglers by 22 pins at the Whitecross Tennis Club, 329-307.

The combination of plastic pins and a concrete alley make playing conditions unpredictable at the best of times but, all too frequently at this venue good accurate bowling was rewarded with a poor score. Never mind, a win is a win, it's two more points & the Bogoes can look forward to playing with their traditional wooden kit next week.

Well done to the two Stuee's, those spares seemed to come from absolutely nowhere!

Note to scoreboard marker; 10 correct out of 12, must do better, please answer the following....

A. Hunt: 6+5+6+7 = X

P. Hill: 8+8+5+6 = Y

Congratulations to Booby who played his 600th competitive match for the Tatti's

19th October v Woodentops (KO Cup Rnd 1) Lost 2-2 (298-301)

The Tatti's were on the wrong end of another very close fought firts round cup match again. This time they drew 2-2 with Woodentops in the KO Cup but they bowed out on total score by just 3 pins, 298-301.

The Bogoes were always playing catch up after a dire opening leg, although I must add here that it had nothing to do with Rusty who set the team up for much better prospects with a well taken 13 spare.

With spares hard to come by, the game was seemingly drifting away from them when suddenly luck changed for the bottom halfers' in the third leg & it was spare's galore (even Benny's 9 was a single pin chance). Pity they didn't make much use of them though.

14th October v Richmond Lions (H) Won 379-357

A solid performance at home by the Tatti's saw off the challenge by newly promoted Richmond Lions by 22 pins, 379-357.

Berti flew out of the blocks with a great 16 spare to set the tone for the evening but, it was Captain Ali who stole the limelight, going one better with a sublime 17 in the second leg and going on to make 40.
Hopefully, Ali's 40 will be the start of many more to come.

Later, Ali's efforts were rewarded with a feast....

12th Oct v Fire Bridade (Man v Man Rnd 1) Lost 4-5

The Tatti's fell at the first hurdle in the Man v Man cup after a very close encounter with Fire Bridage at the Snooker Centre.

Losing by one, the result hung in the balance as Fire Brigades' L. Silcox bowled his final ball. Having felled five pins he took aim with his final ball needing to knock down at least a pin to avoid defeat & the match ending level at 5-5. Unfortunately for the Bogoes he rose to the challenge & got the two pins to win.

Best of luck in the next round Fire Brigade.

7th October v Woodpeckers (A) Lost 318-322

One of the Tatti's 100% records has finally ended as they lost to Woodpeckers by 14 pins, 318-332.

Woodpeckers have waited almost 20 years, since their first encounter with the Bogoes in 2013, and 15 defeats in a row looked like it would be 16 until their 15 spare arrived in the final leg.

Fair play to them, that top half finish was worthy of the win and to top it off with a 12 spare must have been the icing on the cake. Congratulations to Woodpeckers you finally did it!

Tatti's.... that 318 is our second worst effort at the Bowling Club, the worst was 299 in a Man v Man cup match v Wranglers (on 16th October 2009) which also ended in defeat. In that game, as in this, just one player crept into the 30's with a last leg 14 spare, any guesses who?

30th Sept v Livin on a Spare (H) Won 360-328

The Tatti's did enough to see off the challenge of Livin on a Spare, beating them at the Snooker Centre by 32 pins, 360-328.

The top half got off to a flier scoring 55 pins thanks to matching spares by Rusty & Booby. It was a far cry from the awful start in the previous home game against Fire Brigade when they failed to reach 30!

Apart from Boundy with a great 38, nobody else really stood out but, the first seven players all the 30's is a stat worth mentioning. The Bogoes record for this feat is nine players, achieved against Shop Assistants at the Welsh Club on 14th November 2003. The names in playing order are; Ali, Berti, Booby, Westy, Statto, Vorni, Big Ron, Benny and Jonah.

23rd Sept v Richmond Painters (A) Won 379-349

The Tatti's finally got their first points of the season with a good 30 pins' win over newly promoted Richmond Painters.

Unlike the previous week, there was some excellent performances and none better than TK Maxx who finished on 39. Captain Ali was just a pin behind Liam thanks to a brilliant final 18 spare. The defence of the championship is finally underway.

16th Sept 22 v Fire Brigade (Home) Lost 344-376

The Bogoes started where they left off last season with a loss against Fire Brigade at home, 344-376.

After two legs the match was over as a contest.

With a couple of exceptions quite a few performed well below their par and the team got what it deserved.

Well done Holly that was a superb 38, it was brilliant to see you back on the alley again.

27th April 22 v Acorns (Champion of Champions S. Final) - Lost 368-371

A disappointing end to a very successful season with a narrow 3 pins' defeat at the hands of Division 4 champions Acorns but, hey ho, winning the league by dropping just 3 points is a fantastic achievement.  Div.1 Champions again!

Wednesday, 27 April 2022

8th April v Evans SC (Man v Man Final) Lost 4-5 (304-312)

The Tatti's grip on the Man v Man cup was torn away at the final hurdle as they were narrowly defeated 5-4 by Evans SC

Saturday, 2 April 2022

1st April v Military 'D' (Away) Won 362-345

In the final match in the league, the Tatti's fought back from a 16 pins first leg deficit to beat Military 'D' by 17 pins at the Military Club, 362-345

Tuesday, 29 March 2022

25th March v Wranglers (Home) Won 358-328

The Tatti's defeated Wranglers by 30 pins at the Snooker Centre to achieve a 100% record at home this season.

Rusty stole the limelight to top the scoring with a couple of spares, one of which he has saved for another day.

Next week the Bogoes travel to the Military Club to play the D's in the closing match of another very successful league campaign.

Saturday, 19 March 2022

16th March v Military 'D' (Front Pin S. Final) Lost 224-230

The Tatti's bowed out of the Front Pin cup at the semi-final stage, losing to Military 'D' by six pins, at the GWRSA Club, 224-230.

Congratulations to the D's & good luck in the final.

Saturday, 12 March 2022

11th March v Woodpeckers (Home) Won 359-336

Having retained their champions status the previous week, the Tattibogoes maintained their 100% record against Woodpeckers. They won by 23 pins at the Snooker Centre, 359-336.

TK Maxx Liam starred with a hat-trick of spares to record his highest ever score for the Bogoes. It was a fantastic achievement however, had his accuracy been slightly better on the second leg, he would have taken the single pin chance & achieved four spares just like Booby Weale a few weeks before.

Division One Champions:
1996/97, 1999/00, 2000,01, 2002/03, 2003/04, 2005/06, 2006/07, 2009/10, 2010/11, 2011/12, 2012/13, 2016/17, 2019/20, & 2021/22.

Tuesday, 8 March 2022

4th March v Wellies (Away) Won 375-307

The Tattibogoes helped their captain celebrate his birthday by beating Wellies by 68 pins at the Wellington Social Club, 375-307 to secure the Division One title for league record fourteenth time.

Whilst Ali may be sucking on his cigar, with three more major trophies to compete for and a Charity Cup, he's refraining from striking a match to it just yet.

Thursday, 3 March 2022

2nd March v Acorns (Man v Man Cup S.Final) Won 6-4 (273-287)

The Tatti's reached the final of the Man v Man Cup with a narrow 6-4 victory over Acorns at the Welsh Club.

They will meet Evans SC in the final after they defeated Herefordians

Tuesday, 1 March 2022

25th February v Beevers (Home) Won 382-340

The Tatti's overcame the challenge of Beevers with a convincing 42 pins victory at the Snooker Centre, 382-340.

On a night where both teams board markers had left their mathematics head at home, the Bogoes raced out of the traps with two ton plus legs thanks to two marvellous back to back 17 spares by Cheeso & Turps. It probably wouldn't have changed the outcome but Beevers second leg certainly ended the game as a contest.

After the finish, news filtered through that Military 'D' had inflicted Evans SC second defeat in two weeks so, the Tatti's now need just a couple more points to clinch the championship. Roll on next week at Wellington Social Club.

A book recommendation for both board marker's....

18th February (Away) v Phoenix Nights Won 413-354

Amazing, astonishing, astounding, breathtaking, magnificent, spectacular, stunning, wonderful, wondrous, I'm not struggling to find words for Vorni's double flopper however, adjectives themselves are insufficient to describe the performance of Rob Weale.

So here is the scoreboard..... would you just look at that!

Rob not only smashed the previous Tattibogoes highest individual score held for more than 18 years by Prycer, who achieved 57 at the Credenhill Social Club on 28th November 2003, but it's probably the best ever recorded in the Hereford & District Skittle League.

Vorni's double flopper gave him the opportunity for a 27 spare but sadly nerves got the better of him and he put his third ball through. He's only the seventh Tatti to have had a chance at the maximum joining Boundy (20), Sammer (19), Prycer (26), Berti (19), Boundy (20), Westy (21) and Benny (23).

Oh, I almost forgot, the team scored over 400 for the fourth time this season to beat Phoenix Nights by 59 pins, 413-354, and are now seven points clear at the top of the table after Evans SC lost at home against Barton.

With six matches to play they are now just three victories away from retaining their title as Division One Champions.

11th February v Woodentops (Home) Won 366-331

A great opening leg of 106 set the Tatti's on their way to bag another two points, beating Woodentops by 35 pins at the Snooker Centre, 366-331.

Westy & Benny returned to the line-up after missing the previous league game in mysterious circumstances.Rumour has it they went hunting in the dark armed with cat balls and Benny shat himself when they witnessed an unexplained episode of paranormal cativity. The question is, did it affect Benny's performance in this game?

We may never know but, whatever they saw, it didn't phase Westy in the slightest as he started with a great 15 spare and went on to a spooktacular 40 total.

Stuee Griff stole the limelight with a superb 43 thanks to a brace of spares & Captain Ali celebrated his 800th league game.

Thursday, 10 February 2022

9th February v Barton (Front Pin Q. Final) Won 292-194

The Tatti's maintained their record of winning all their 29 quarter final matches in the Front Pin. This time they beat Barton at the Snooker Centre, 292-194.

Finding themselves 15 pins behind after the first leg they turned the match on it's head with a couple of great legs and ended up winning by 98.

Holly & Cheeso shared the limelight with a pair of excellent 40's and for both it was the second time they've achieved scores in the 40's at Front Pin.

4th February v The 'C'on Men (A) Won 381-341

The Tatti's defeated bottom of the table 'C'on Men by 40 pins, 381-341, at the bouncy Golden Lion to maintain their five points lead at the top.

Berti starred with a huge 49, his fourth best score for the Bogoes however, felling just a couple of pins from his final ball he missed a great opportunity to join Prycer on four career 50's.

Booby helped himself to a wonderful late double frame clearance to finish on 40 and stay in the race for the averages.

Wednesday, 2 February 2022

2nd February v Evans SC (KO Cup Q.Final) Lost 2-2 (283-291)

The Tatti's hold on the KO cup came to an end at the quarter final stage after a very close game against Evans SC at the Volunteer. The match was drawn 2-2 however, Evans SC scored 8 more pins & progress through to the Semi's.

Saturday, 29 January 2022

28th January v Evans SC (H) Won 392-379

The Tatti's came out on top in a classic high scoring battle against title rivals Evans SC, winning by 13 pins at the Snooker Centre, 392-379.

The Bogoes started with with a great ton plus thanks to four spares by Berti, Booby, Turps & Prycer but they soon realised they were for a tough game when Evans responded with a ton plus leg of their own to edge out a lead by a couple of pins.

Returning to the alley they faced a score of 96 to level but a frustrating spare-less leg ensued after two single pin chances were missed, no names required here. The third leg continued in the same vein until Stuee popped up with a superb 15. His spare arrived at a crucial moment in the match & probably kept the Tatti's in the game.

Evans' sub 90 third leg turned their earlier two pins lead into a two pins shortfall however, a good 90+ final leg meant that the Tatti's required 93 to win.

As we all know Benny loves a good chase & he soon got everyone else up and running with a brilliantly taken 15 spare. Vorni backed this up with a good frame clearance which set the stage for Captain Ali to star with a wonderful 17.

A few formality efforts later, by Ali's top half team mates, saw the Tatti's pass the winning line & bag two more valuable points in the title race.

Wednesday, 26 January 2022

26th January v Harry's Lads (MvM Q.Final) Won 6-4 (267-265)

The Tatti's secured their place in the Semi Final of the Man v Man cup with a 6-4 win over Harry's Lads at the Railway Club.

The match followed the same pattern as the recent league fixture as the Tatti's struggled to get to grips with the difficulties of playing on the GWRSA alley. At the half way point they'd chalked up two poor legs again and were trailing 3-6 and 12 pins behind.

In the second half they were much improved but, they still found themselves trailing 4-5 after three legs apiece and ten pins adrift. They needed a final leg collapse by Harry's Lads and fortunately that's exactly what happened. It opened the door for the Bogoes who grasped the opportunity with both hands, an excellent final ball by Captain Ali turned the tide & another by TK Maxx soon afterwards won the match.

Some relevant stats:
Captain Ali has appeared in every Man v Man cup match, that's 75 in total.
Berti has played in all 48 matches the Tatti's have played against Harry's Lads.
This fixture has only been played once before, a first round match in September 1999 at the Farmers Club. That match was also a close game, ending with a narrow 6-5 victory for the Tatti's & 359-359 on total pins.

Sunday, 23 January 2022

21st January v Barton (Away) Won 338-302

The Tatti's maintained their 100% record over Barton with a comfortable 36 pins away win at the Lads Club, 338-302.

If the sight of ten men Barton's poor opening leg of 69 wasn't enough to gain confidence then Rusty & Berti starting with 13 and 15 spares definitely was.

Despite the bottom half's attempt to make the game a contest, with a shocking 28 total, the lead was still in double figures & Barton never threatened to close the gap.

The game ended when Rusty finished as he started with a well taken spare, Berti had topped the scoring with 42 & Liam set a new target in the race for a spoon.

Happy 50th Birthday Vorni!

Monday, 17 January 2022

14th January v Fire Brigade (Home) Won 365 - 342

Although not at their best, the Tatti's did enough to secure all the points and claim a season's double over Fire Brigade winning, by 23 pins at home, 365-342.

Booby Weale's performance on the night was head & shoulders above everyone else, apart from Fire Bridade's Des Stephenson who matched Rob's fantastic 45 total. Stuee Griffiths was the next best player for the Bogoes with a solid 35 pins.

The unfortunate Cheeso suffered from a disastrous first half before doubling his tally in the third leg & rounding off with a 7 to avoid the dreaded spoon. It's worth noting here that he beat his opposite man though!

The players are thankful that former sticker Ash came to watch the match & volunteered to step into the shoes of their current sticker who unfortunately was absent due to illness. Apparently, he had a few aches & pains the next morning so it was probably a good job the Tatti's weren't at their 400+ best!
Ash
