27th January Div.1 v Evans SC' (H) W 364-362

The Tatti's closed the gap to front runners Harry's Lads with a narrow two pins home win against Evans SC, while Phoenix Nights did them a massive favour by defeating the Lads by three pins (348-345) at the Victory.

At half way stage. the Tatti's seemed to be cruising to a comfortable victory and a seasons double over their opponents but Evans showed why they have a dozen division one titles to their name (one more than Tattibogoes) with an excellent 104 finish. It left the Bogoes needing 81 to win, the same amount they needed to beat Woodentops in October when they failed dismally.

Against Woodentops the bottom half struggled to reach 40 & the top were even worse with just 36 to end up throwing away two points that were apparently already 'in the bag'.  So as the bottom players proceeded to buckle with just 35 pins everyone feared a repeat was on the cards.

Step up Captain Ali & Cheeso. Boosted by some unbelievable vocal support of board marker Stuee Griff they somehow enabled him to chalk up a 9 & an 8 from two really difficult first ball falls. In fact Cheeso's final ball added seven crucial pins. With the first ball deliveries not helping anyone in the top half Westy, Jonah & Berti all managed to avoid any disasters to leave Rusty needing 7 to win. Jonah's 9 was superb while Berti's 7 gave him a hat-trick of 40's

Although the weight on Rusty's shoulders was immense it grew even further when his first ball only took out two pins. However, he took a deep breath to keep his cool & delivered a brilliant second that felled the five pins he needed to win the match. Phew, the sense of relief showed in many as they held their foreheads while watching Rusty adding one more pin with his final ball. Later news came through that Phoenix had beaten Harry's Lads .......happy days!

Some stats versus Evans SC in the league....

In 42 meetings the Tatti's have now won 22, losing 20 but Evans have scored 70 pins more (13,929-13,999).
Season's doubles reads Tatti's 4 (01/02, 04/05, 10/11 & now this season) Evans 3 (00/01, 06/04 & 13/14 when Evans also won the title play-off match).
Most ever present player for the Bogoes is Ali who's only missed one game, Berti has missed two.

20th January Div.1 v Military 'D' (A) W 399-363

It was the 50th meeting between these two sides with the Bogoes wining 31, Military 'D' 17 & the other two games were drawn. Although the Tatti's have the edge over their opponents in the previous match Military 'D' thrashed them with a record breaking away score of 417.

Since that match however, the D's have lost every game while the Tatti's have won all of their last five and they made it six with a superb 399 at the Military Club.

Rob Weale starred with a brace of spares in his 43 while Berti joined him on the 40's after grabbing a late 15 spare.

6th January Div.1 v Wellies (A) W 376-321

Following the three week festive break the Tatti's travelled out to Wellington to take on second placed Wellies and ran out comfortable winners by 49 pins.

Dave Pryce's purple patch on this alley seems unending as he added two more spares to the five he felled in his previous two games here, his scores have been 57, 41,& 41.

With other results going the Tatti's way they now find themselves second in the table behind pace setters Harry's Lads who they take on next week.
